Here's the study. The problem is all crimes are unique. But they do their best.

"After controlling for the arrest offense, criminal history, and other prior characteristics, "men receive 63% longer sentences on average than women do," and "[w]omen are…twice as likely to avoid incarceration if convicted." This gender gap is about six times as large as the racial disparity that Prof. Starr found in another recent paper."

I'm not a lawyer nor a sociologist but it looks fairly legit to me. I know Umich is considered a top legal school.

Criminal history

What would proper accounting for this even look like? Consider If a woman is found not guilty for a crime because she is a woman, and then later found not guilty for not having a criminal history, that she would have if she had been properly found guilty of the first crime.

What sort of coercion do you mean? Something like "my husband did it so I felt I should too" should not be considered coercion IMHO. Is a young, uneducated man who turns a life of drug running because he couldn't find any other way to support himself coerced?

Make sure to keep capitalism into account. Private prisons exist. The more prisoners and the longer they stay, the more money some people make.

A lot of manosphere dudes just look at sentencing gaps and think, “see! Feminism! Male disposability!” Of course there are other factors, and male disposability absolutely makes the gap seem more “ok” to most people, but don’t forget the elephant in the room

Someone asked me if the disparity accounts for the fact whether the perps were coerced into these circumstances (women are more likely to be coerced in these situations) or not.
