Just thoughts. The 'nice guys' who nowadays are shamed and ridiculed for not getting a woman and not being satisfied with it, are possibly the inheritors of a middle class that is no more. Middle class men weren't very macho to begin with. They were self-constrained, well-mannered, and their attitude towards women was what now often is called 'benevolent sexism'. Maybe they were a bit boring, but their behaviour often guaranteed stability and a good income, and that was worth something. Especially in a monogamous society, there was always a 'market' for them. Eager to please, they had no problem exchanging their 'benevolent sexism' for egalitarianism or even feminism, but that way also lost some of their charms. Changes in the economy, crises and neoliberalism, made being a typical middle-class man no longer any financial guarantee. At the same time, more and more women had their own income, so what these men could bring in was often unnecessary and/or not enough. And to make matters worse, in sensational popular culture was less room for the average guy than for either classy rich men or rough 'salt of the earth'-types. So these men - or even their sons who were raised that way, even if they never were really middle class themselves - find themselves in a world they don't understand, and in, or rather outside of, a love market they don't understand. Their problem is not entitlement or creepiness, it is a class attitude that has gone out of fashion. Does this make sense at all?
