Marriage puts the state in control of your relationship. With police on speed dial it is very difficult to have a complicated relationship like this poster described.

I had something similar happen to me with someone I lived with for three years, luckily I knew the end was here.

In packing to leave, she started breaking my stuff, throwing my iPhone on the floor and I didn't go near her. I called her father. That was enough to irritate her and she called the police to make a point to me. She simply picked up the phone, dialed 911, and said "Help".

Having a knowledge of my situation I went and sat on the couch waiting for the police to arrive in force.

They did. She was still drunk and luckily they sent a female officer who saw right through her. They handcuffed me and went to talk to her. They then released me when she told the truth (lucky for me) that nothing happened.

When the police went to leave I watched her slowly packing. I guessed she was planning on round two, this time being more effective in calling the police.

I shared my fears with the police and they agreed. They asked me to give her cash, I had 300 dollars on me, and then they told her to take a taxi now before they leave.

My only request from her was to never hear from her again. Which worked out well.

But I was at her mercy and it was only out of luck that I don't now have a criminal record and haven't spent time in jail. Male=Guilty until proven otherwise.

another thing that really bothers me - the assumption that it's an "incel bait post".

I don't even know what to say. Are they that uneducated about what happens to male victims of domestic violence? Would it be appropriate for me to write off a story about a woman getting raped as a "feminist bait post"? Jesus. Some people are just sick in the head.

All the evidence is in his favor, yet he's pretty much thrown under the jail when he's the victim. She was drunk and hysterical when the police showed up. Most of his stuff is destroyed. Did he not get medical attention from when she hit him in the head with a lamp? I don't buy this story.
