The recent post by u/Blauwpetje (thank you) on Katie Roiphe(sp?) made me think of writing out this account of how my wife and I got together 38 years ago.

She was already involved w 3 men simultaneously, one older man which was ending, and two younger than me by 3-4 years who were both VERY much in love w her and she was reluctant to hurt either. We ran together at community college and talked, and I liked her, but I was not eager to insert myself into the fracas.

She also continued having one timers with other men. She didn't really seem to be finding what she wanted.

One night at a party, she dragged me into the bathroom, locked the door, pulled my pants off, and jumped on me. I know, right?!? Reverse who did what and imagine the rhetoric.

We did marry and have remained monogamous for 37 years. Our first daughter, when in third grade had a girl who became quite smitten with her. She invited everywhere, becoming almost like a stalker, especially at school. We were informed by several students that the girl was saying things about our daughter, that she loved her, and, the she wished she "could eat ice cream out of her butt".

I guess what the article and the #MeToo ideology points out for me is that women are incapable of seeing the faults of all humans in themselves. Women should be intelligent enough to know, just like Sylvia Plath, that #They Too are capable of violence, anger, threatening behaviour, poor decisions, machismo, etc...
