This message is dangerous though because women tend to follow it while men reap the fruits from it.

Ultimately, men should focus on giving and women on taking. It would maybe even out some of the inequality we see in heterosexual relationships. And even when men think they are the giver, they might be wrong. So this message is beautiful and wise - for men. For women it is way too common to be fooled by focusing on generosity.
