original post about doubting my cohabitating LTR

TLDR of original post: been with my (23F) boyfriend (25M) for almost three years. We live together and I’m having doubts about marriage compatibility.

I’m not ready to fully give up on this relationship, but I want to take a step back so I can vet with a clear mind.

We originally moved in together because we went off to college and he couldn’t afford housing. My parents funded my education + living expenses, and helped my boyfriend as well.

We moved back to our hometown and he’s just secured a job to pay half of our rent. I can afford it without him, but he can’t. I’d like to not live together, but I don’t want him to feel like I’m putting him out.

Is there any graceful way to breach this subject respectfully? I truly think we’d both be happier if we had our own space. We’ve talked about breaking up in past recent months due to resentment (he feels like I’m his mom, I feel like a neglected wife… as an unmarried 23 year old. Yikes!)

I seriously can’t do one more load of his laundry without resenting him…

Any advice for suggesting we live separately? Thank you in advance 🤍
