What do you do when strange men approach you or greet you on the street?

On the street I have my sunglasses and am looking at nobody in particular and usually walking quickly. If a man approached me or made some comments I would either ignore and keep walking or give a very short answer and keep walking (if that feels like it would be safer). Whatever keeps the interaction short and keeps you safe.

There have been posts on here about meeting HVM in the wild but HVM know the right time and place to introduce themselves to a woman and it's not when she's a stranger walking alone on the street.

Usually I ignore. Sometimes it feels safer to give brief responses ("hi", "I'm good") so he doesn't feel ignored and lash out, but act like you're in a hurry.

To me on the street feels very predatory. The man knows nothing about you except that he likes how you look which suggests a LVM to me. Plus there’s really no where for you to hide.

If you meet a guy “in the wild” to me that means you meet him at a music event, a museum, a hobby event, etc. this way he has a bit of context for who you are as a person, and knows you have something in common.

Even meeting someone at a bar, if you’re there for a bit and a guy approaches you, at the very least he picked up your vibes and has a bit of context for who you might be and if he’s interested.
