A psychology experiment that went against the very concept of ethics and morality, the parents and leading doctor playing god with a young child. the experiment would result in the child David Reimer, committing suicide at the age of 38. a case that shows the awful consequences of meddling with gender.

Following human rights breached

  • Life liberty and security of person, broken because of actions taken without consent or knowledge of David. This resulted in his death.
  • the right to social protection, to an adequate standard of living and to the highest attainable standards of physical and mental well-being, broken because parents and doctors took actions that left permanent psychological damage, and mental scarring, this would result in his death from suicide. the physical stress wore on his mental health. By his early 20s, Reimer had attempted suicide twice and remained deeply depressed for years after. In May 2004, two years after his twin brother succumbed to a drug overdose, David Reimer committed suicide. He was 38.
  • Prohibition of arbitrary deprivation of life; torture, cruel or degrading treatment or punishment; various moral standards were broken, with David being forced to do horrible things, Reimer was shown pictures of naked adults to “reinforce Brenda/David’s gender identity” and pressed by Money to endure more surgeries that would make him more feminine. Both of the twins would later accuse Money of making them pose in various sexual positions which, according to Money, was just another element of his theory that involved “sexual rehearsal play.”
