This point claims that fathers being less involved in child-rearing/homemaking proves that men are more selfish than women. This is just as idiotic as claiming that mothers being less-involved in their jobs and career proves that women are more lazy than men. They specifically look at an area that women are typically more involved in. I could just as well conduct a study that finds that women work fewer hours per week, and from there conclude that women aren't good team players

It's a similar issue with their other point

the neural reward system of women is triggered by generosity, while that of men is more stimulated by self-centeredness.

In the actual study, they're referring specifically to women being more likely to give away money while men are more likely to keep it. No surprise considering that men are usually socialized to be the breadwinners and are often valued based on how much money they have. Women's perceived value isn't based on how much money they have, and they usually aren't expected to be the providers for their families. So having money is often a stronger motivator for men than for women

This doesn't prove that they're more selfish as a whole. If they had instead tested on another value--e.g. how likely a man is to risk/sacrifice his life for a woman vs. how likely a woman is to risk/sacrifice her life for a man--the results would have shown that men are more selfless

TL;DR They tested very narrow factors, and from that made very broad conclusions

And also, guys often have some obligations, like being breadwinner, paying for dates, etc.

In other words,they have more things to spend money on, aside from charity.

So this study actually proofs nothing.

Girls, by the way, spend more money on themselfs, so it is a big question, who is more selfish.

Any claim that is based on survey, you should take it with a grain of salt.

Survey could only reflect opinion not reality, and sometime it even fail at that, because people might anwser differently than how they actually feel. Even if they are honest, their subconcious might be different from what they believe.

A more reliable method is double blind test in a more consistant enviroment, with long term period of observation, but even this cannot guarenteed absolute reliability.

In current status, gender debate is an anyones claim game, because it's nearly impossible to prove anything scientifically that follow 5 basic rule of science.

We all know that's a lie. Women are literally praised for and encouraged to be selfish, while we're shamed for having the most basic standards. This article is part of the shaming and conditioning of men.

Calling it “selfish” is very unflattering, and actually foolish because it comes with judgmental overtones that shouldn’t be there, but I think it might actually be true that men tend to be more self focused while women tend to be more other focused. Don’t get too caught up on the morality of it, it doesn’t make us bad people, because ultimately I think it contributes to men being more independent minded, which I think is a great thing. Men and women are not supposed to be the same, we are specialists who make up for what the others lack. Being communal and other oriented isn’t always good because it means you are more likely to conform just to please the group, rather than stand your ground when you should.

I don’t think calling it selfish is accurate because men sacrifice themselves in so many ways and rarely complain about it, so it can’t just be that we are flat out selfish l, but I do think there is something to being self focused vs other focused, as this is something I’ve noticed in myself and women in my life.
