For reference, Mohamed Noor, another Minnesota police officer, is currently serving a sentence of 57 months (or nearly 5 years) for the same crime.

Potter is a woman convicted of unlawfully killing a man, while Noor is a man convicted of unlawfully killing a woman. And despite being a police officer in the same state as Noor, Potter was sentenced to less than half of Noor’s sentence.

The justice system clearly has its priorities straight.

EDIT: I should also add that Noor was initially sentenced to 12.5 years in prison for third-degree murder (despite the similarity of the circumstances to the Wright manslaughter), but I will cut the justice system some slack because Noor’s conviction for third-degree murder has since been overturned.
