Long story short - I was bored the other night and tired of swiping through the same guys in my area on Hinge. I decided to change my location to another state (like 4 hours away) to an area that I have been to before and loved. I figured there was nothing to lose, I probably wouldn’t find anyone interesting anyway.

Well what do you know, someone from my hometown had sent me a message and said I looked familiar and if I was from ….(town). He did look familiar but I have never met him before. We attended the same high school.

I noticed that one of my friends from childhood (guy) was in many of his pictures. I responded and said I was indeed from there and that I know (friends name). We messaged back and forth talking about our mutual friend and he asked me what brought me to that area. I half told the truth- I said I had been to the area once before and I wanted to chat with some locals about new activities there and get some recommendations.

He then gave me a list of things in the area. I was kind of hard and cut him off- and said this is good to know I’ll have to look more into it. He then sent me a long message saying he is happy to help in anyway he can and to let him know if I have any questions. It sounds like we grew up right under each other’s noses and just never crossed paths.

I guess I’m just disappointed because I was kinda hoping he’d say “we should get together the next time we’re both in (hometown)” or “let me know when you do come to the area I’d love to take you out” but he didn’t. And I know that if he wanted to he would! But I can’t help but wonder if he didn’t do any of that because I was slightly cold to him. Thoughts?
