"#MeToo is over if we don’t listen to ‘imperfect victims’ like Amber Heard"; Gross article denies Men can be victims of abuse & encourages people to never believe Men. Individuals such as this are why so many Men feel uncomfortable about opening up or seeking support.

Because caring about men is the last thing that conservatives and feminists want to do.

[–]pacsatonifil 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I was on twitter and all the women were mocking a similar article saying it was the most entitled thing they had seen men claim. I am not a father, but why is it hard to believe? We are human too.

[–]Halafax 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I am a father. My ex was/is disturbed. I didn't understand that at the time.

I threw everything into trying to support my family. I couldn't. Not for lack of trying, but my ex became more destructive to match my support. No one can win that fight, it's so much easier to be destructive.

The weird thing is, in the aftermath people still ask me why I didn't do more for her. It's insane. I did so much, I got no credit for ruining myself while trying.

You can't make these people happy. They don't understand what they are doing, but they can't conceive of men as anything but providers or monsters.

[–]pacsatonifil 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm sorry that sounds like a horrible situation to be in. You really can't make them happy. It wasn't until recently that I really started to notice this myself. It seems so obvious now and it feels hopeless sometimes. Hope you are in a better situation now.

I mean I’m a feminist and I stand up for mens rights because everyone should be equally cared for in society but hey go off

[–]Halafax 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

I've scrolled quite a few pages back through your history and don't see you supporting men. I do see you attacking MRAs and defending feminism quite a lot.

It's clear where your priorities are.

[+]Commercial-Switch-23 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

You mean I’m attacking the men attacking women? Did you not see the whole supporting the idea of abolishing men being conscripted and the whole male victims of abuse should be taken more seriously. My own brother was treated horrendously when he was a victim so it’s soemthing I’m incredibly passionate about

[–]Halafax 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

So incredibly passionate that I didn't see any posts about you supporting men.

[+]Commercial-Switch-23 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

And what are you actively doing to help support men rather than just complaining? You’re not even like giving support like I’m trying to do to the people who need it

[–]Halafax 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

You aren't giving any support. You are on full attack, post after post.

[+]Commercial-Switch-23 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

So you think the posts saying that all feminists are shit and don’t do anything useful are ok?

[–]Halafax 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

When feminists stop attacking men, sure.

[+]Commercial-Switch-23 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Where have I attacked anyone for being a man? I’ve responded accordingly to their hate filled posts

[+]Commercial-Switch-23 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you have this mentality that all déniants hate men you’re gonna turn into a woman hating bastard

[+]Commercial-Switch-23 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Can you not understand why I’m so angry? I genuinely care about male victims and know how much they deserve the exact same treatment as female victims (I’d argue all victims regardless of gender deserve better treatment) and then to have it thrown in my face that I’m an awful person and I hate all men purely because of a name? If I said I was an equaliser instead of a feminist yet I kept the same values there would be no issue. Yes there are women out there who use feminism as an excuse to hate men but there’s men who do the same just the opposite.

[+]Commercial-Switch-23 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

You’re clearly not reading all my previous comments. I’m on attack to you rn because you had the audacity to disregard the fact that I might actually care about mens issues for the fact that I have a fucking vagina

[–]Halafax 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I don't care if you have a vagina.

Feminists and feminism are inherently misandrist.

Your post history don't show support for men.

[+]Commercial-Switch-23 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ok what comments on my post history cause you’re cherry picking at this point.

[+]Commercial-Switch-23 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How is fighting for equality for women misandrist?

[–]Commercial-Switch-23 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sorry should we just let women across the globe be controlled by men? To have their rights stripped away because they have a vagina

[–]Omz-bomz1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

That's a bold strawman argument.

Feminism doesn't own being for womens rights.
Feminism is fighting for some women rights and priveleges, view through the lense of feminism ideology. You can be for women rights without being a feminist, and you can, in part, be a feminist and for women rights.

But you can not be a feminist and be for mens rights.

[+]Commercial-Switch-23 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The last comments I made 2,5,6,7,8,9 go read them and come back

[+]Commercial-Switch-23 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So yeah I have my priorities and it’s clear that the women hating men I’ve responded to also do

[–]Famous-Albatross4175 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I never hear about postnatal depression in general. I hear about postpartum, but not postnatal.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Postnatal depression actually refers to the baby.

Postpartum applies to fathers: https://health.clevelandclinic.org/yes-postpartum-depression-in-men-is-very-real/

[–]blahpunchlineblah 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

For couples I can see how it gets missed. Mom has just gone through an ordeal. Labor is extremely physically and mentally demanding and after she has control over how her body responds. The hormone drop from pregnant to not pregnant is WILD and not everyine responds the same way. She now is bleeding, trying to breastfeed, recovering from stitches, may not be able to go to the bathroom without help, and can't drive or even go up stairs.

It's so easy to forget about dad in this situation. Watching someone you love in horrible pain while unable to help is not easy. He has to be the everything else person. He has to be the go between for the doctors and nurses, make medical decisions, potential watch his partner and baby have complications right in front of him. He now has a baby that he may not even bond with immediately (WHICH IS TOTALLY NORMAL) that he has to take care of, ALONG WITH being a caregiver to a recovering new mom.

So much focus is on baby, then some is on mom (not a lot honestly, postpartum care is hilariously neglectful), and none is leftover for dad.

[+]Commercial-Switch-23 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Unfortunately both men and women are neglected by society which just somehow expects new parents to magically be fine with everything? There’s so much judgement on women usually by older women if they can’t ‘cope’ and then fathers just bear the silent heavy load too. It’s awful
