Contrary to popular belief, sexism and misogyny are NOT synonyms. Misogyny means hatred and contempt of women, just like how misandry is hatred and contempt of men. Sexism doesn't necessarily have to be hateful.

Ambivalent sexism is the concept that there's 2 types of sexism: benevolent and hostile. Ambivalently sexist people are both simultaneously.

Benevolent sexism is a form of sexism that cherishes women in a positive way but still marginalizes them. It's the idea that women are wonderful but weak. It typically infantilizes women and ascribes gender roles such as nurturing, loving, caring, harmless, victim, etc. In fact, expectations that women should be taking care of children or cooking and cleaning or shouldn't have certain jobs are more benevolently sexist than hostilely sexist because not letting them have a certain job is more about infantilizing them and believing they, like children, can't handle the responsibilities and should be nurturing kids and taking care of them. People don't (or at least not usually) say a woman can't have a job because they "hate women" and view them as monsters.

Benevolent sexism still marginalizes women because it treats them as equivalent to children instead of equivalent to men and makes them below men in some aspects of life, but it also harms men because in countries where women have less status, the women are wonderful effect is higher and, while society in general has more hostility toward men than toward women, this gap is higher in less-progressive countries. Feminism is only a secondary factor for misandry's widespread existence. Benevolent sexism is the main force behind misandry because people believe women are solely victims and men are solely antagonists, and believe men to be dangerous and women are called damsels in distress and benevolent sexism believes in traditional gender roles (which didn't exist to oppress women because it was forced upon men too and it exists due to evolution) and thus believes men should be self-reliant and women are innocent children/damsels in distress who need to be protected. Because we need more women than men to populate the Earth, society had to overprotect women and thus, they believe men are disposable and that's why people only pay attention to crimes against women and children. People therefore expected men to be big and strong and expected men to protect women and children, and that's why the women are wonderful effect exists regardless of whether women conform to traditional gender roles or not (women and children are loved unconditionally) while men are only loved if they conform to societal expectations and otherwise are hated.

Hostile sexism is the more anger or hatred of women or believing women are inferior or are terrible people.

Let's look at the Ambivalent Sexism Inventory (ASI)

Notice how a lot of the hostile sexism statements are just critical of feminism and a lot of it is actually true and is basically MRA beliefs. Any Men's Rights Activist or person who knows the truth about feminism or criticizes feminism could pass for hostilely sexist.

And most of the benevolent sexism is literally shit feminists say.

"women should be cherished and protected by men" I'll admit feminists get mad if you explicitly say "men should protect women" or "women should be protected", but when you say or do anything that implies it or suggests it, they agree with you. Even they do or say shit that implies it. If a man says he doesn't care about women's rights, feminists will be pissed off if he doesn't or if bad things women go through don't bother him. When they say no uterus no opinion, they just mean "no uterus and you can't be pro-life". They get mad if a man doesn't care about abortion bans and call him privileged for not being bothered and any male feminists who says he doesn't have an opinion does (read his actions) given how outraged he is by abortion bans and happy he is by abortion legalization. I've also seen people on social media glorify the idea of overprotective vigilante fathers of women and girls ("if that was my daughter i'd kill him" comments which you never see "if that was my son" comments) and some were feminists. Feminists would probably praise a guy if he were to engage in vigilante attacks against those rapists/domestic abusers or if he were to be a feminist posting feminist shit online.

"a good women should be set on a pedestal" - feminists believe all women are good and will get mad if you criticize anything a woman does. they literally put women on a pedestal all the time.

"men should sacrifice to provide for women" men who refuse to date single moms are hated by feminists and called "misogynists" AFAIK

"in a disaster women should be rescued first" the media always mentions the women and children killed in war when most are men, and feminists always emphasize female sex slaves and all that shit. Feminists also only pay attention to crimes against women and children even when most crime victims are adult men. They believe women should be rescued first and i swear they might deny it but read their actions, and they're eager to first save a woman in the disaster or war and they only wanna stop crimes against women and children.

"women have a superior moral sensibility" "women have refined culture/taste" "women have a quality of purity few men possess" feminists literally believe this. no questions. Feminists and people in general think women can never be sexual predators/offenders and can never be violent criminals or domestic abusers and think women can only be victims and never evil

And the last few about romance isn't even benevolent sexism. it's not even sexism. believing life sucks without romance with a woman isn't sexism at all. that's laughable. that isn't benevolent sexism or sexism in general at all. not even misogyny.

Given the way feminists treat women, feminists are the most benevolently sexist people on earth. feminism itself is inherently benevolent sexist because it ignores men's problems and only cares about women, and feminists portray women as damsels in distress who need to be protected.
