Yeah my buddy who drank a ton, blew .24 and he was blacked out in Lala land.

I did hear a story from a cop who told me how a rough, middle aged woman, who seemed somewhat sober, had blown close to .4. Cop was shocked until she informed him that she was a functional but raging alcoholic. So I suppose it’s possible, just highly unlikely and there’s no way a teenage girl falls into this category

I don't believe this girl at all, but some people have a high tolerance. When I got a drinking ticket I blew .26, I was very drunk but remember everything and was communicating fine. Also knew and alcoholic that blue over a .3 while being surprisingly coherent.

I can confirm something similar to this from first hand experience. Colleague arrested a woman who blew .320 @ 1030am. She drank somewhere around 2 40oz bottles of vodka straight a day. The fact she was driving was impressive and sad - impressive because of the alcohol toxicity and being able to functionally operate but sad because she was operating impaired and likely going to have cirrhosis....

Not really. Chronic alcoholics develop insane tolerance. I regularly treat people in the ER that are stone sober at 0.4. I've seen people walking and talking at 0.65, and the world record for someone driving is 1.45

The people you are talking about are in there 40ies and 50ies and have had a lifetime to build up that kind of tolerance! She’s in Colorado. Here in America we just use BAC (blood alcohol concentration) as a %. If you blow a .25 then that means .25 (AKA .25%) of your blood is alcohol.

It isn’t imperial or metric, there’s no math involved other than looking at a % and the law having an acceptable % of alcohol in your system to be able to drive.

Here in Germany we measure BAC levels in "promille" or "per thousand" (per mille) and not in %.

So 3.8 for her might mean 0.38% for you. (Depending on where she lives)

This one I'm torn on. She makes a few claims (like the breathalyzer reading and the cop hitting on her) that turned out to be untrue, but the bodycam footage the cop released, coupled with her sob story matching what she told the officer (and later admitted was fake) and videos of her drinking straight vodka just prior to driving prove that she did in fact most likely manipulate her way out of a DUI.

If you breathalyzer was 3.8 you would be dead. That would mean your blood is no longer blood, that would mean your blood is 380% alcohol. Even if you BAC was .38 you would still be pretty close to dead from alcohol poisoning.

We measure it different in the USA, 1.0 BAC in the US is equal to 100%, that's why the legal limit here is measured as anything over a .08 BAC your to drunk to drive, and in most places that's a really high number, most places it's .06, but we measure it differently. I guess if you were comparing it that would mean 8% of your blood is alcohol.

In the US 0.08 means your blood is 0.08% as in 8/100's of a percent. The scale does go above 1.0bac it just means your blood is over 1% alcohol. This is super rare but there are tons of recorded instances of people being over 1%.

For fun, if I drink alcohol that is 4% (beer typically) how would I ever get my blood alcohol level to 8%?

.08% is 8/100ths of 1%, livers are very good at filtering toxins and ethanol is toxic.

I've had multiple judges and lawyers tell me I'm right, I'm going to take their word over an internet stranger. I've done jail time over this so your not going to win this argument or convince anyone that's ever gotten a DUI in the USA that you are correct. If you blow over a .08 BAC in the USA, your ass is going to jail, trust me, don't find out the hard way, or maybe do if that's what it takes, I don't recommend it but if your old enough to drink and drive a car your old enough to find out the hard way. When I was a much younger person I blew a 0.12 BAC and my lawyer looked me dead ass in the face and said "you were ringing the bell that night".

He is correct though. In the US, BAC is measured from 0-1, with a .08 being the legal limit. .1-.2 range will have most people sufficiently drunk. After .3 you are likely into blackout drunk territory. .4 and beyond leads to a good chance you will die or have alcohol poisoning

As a heads up, don't expect that person to live a long life, that will catch up eventually either through organ failure or just straight suicide depression, it might even be to late to even be able to identify the difference.
