I’m heavily tattooed. I’ve known great artists and I’ve known shitty sketchy assholes that call themselves artists. Sadly, there’s a small portion of the tattoo community that endorses this type of sadistic bullshit. A bad example I saw years ago was from a shop that sold tattoo supplies. Some unlicensed kid came to their shop trying to buy ink and needles from them. Instead of telling him to go away or use the chance to educate him, they sold him ink mixed with rubbing alcohol. Then they went on to brag about it on a semi-private tattoo forum. There were dozens of comments from other supposed tattooers praising the shop for this. The moderators of that forum even started banning people that spoke up against the shop.

It’s a very small portion of the community, but these pieces of shit exist and enable each other’s bullshit. Always do thorough research on a shop’s reputation before getting tattooed. Ideally you should know what an artist’s healed work looks like before you sit for an appointment with them. If it’s a newer artist or apprentice, be doubly sure that the shop they work at is professional and transparent in their work.

I did a reverse search on the profile pic. Turns out it's a transwoman, which explains -- but does not justify -- the rage.
