I work part-time and spend most of my time doing things I enjoy. I make about 20k a year and live comfortably and save quite a bit per year as well. I can honestly say I have never desired any material thing that I couldn't afford. Nevertheless, I've always had this idea that I need to get a full-time job. When I stop to think about it I realize the only reason is that I feel like if I want to have a long term partner I need to be making 5 to 10 times that amount. In other words, basically paying 80-90% of my income as tribute to my partner. (The situation is a little more subtle for people who want to raise kids together, but that's not what I'm talking about here.)
