Good morning.
I started a new job a few months ago and I’ve made some friends along the way. The annoying thing is everyone calls me “wholesome” for things like just because my body count is 2 and because I don’t do drugs and go out partying all the time. One guy said he thought I was a prude when he first met me. And I asked why? And he said because I was dressed professionally and he thought he couldn’t be himself around me….keep in mind, I would wear things like heels, work pants, and a blazer or a nice dress. (Yes, the job is business casual but still. I like to dress nicely). He also said I was quiet which is true, but it takes time for me to open up to some people.
Since when did these things become a bad thing? I’ve been told my whole life people think I’m a “goody goody”. I’m assuming because I was quiet and the way I dress. I went out for drinks last night with them and they treat me like a child because they perceive me as being so innocent, which is fine, but also annoying as a 30 year old adult woman.
Anyone experience things like this? It disappoints me a little because I feel like a lot of men haven’t gotten to know me because they think I’m a prude and what not.
