We don’t need ‘straight Pride’ or Men’s Rights Activism because being straight or male does not put you at a disadvantage.

read The Men's Rights Citation List, learn and come back to that statement.

They are false equivalents, cheapening the very real and important issues facing men and women alike.

Nope, you're just but buthurt that more and more men aren't taking shit from women anymore and clapping back at their unacceptable, entitled behaviour.

It’s the lowest form of whataboutery – the practice of responding to an accusation or difficult question by making a counter accusation or raising a different issue.

Which is exactly what this whole article is, ironicly enough.

Yes, women are flawed, women are human beings and women can display toxic traits. But is toxic femininity really a concept that needs to be addressed?

Yes. It absolutely, 100% is. Period.

If we lived in a matriarchy, then maybe men like Haskell and Maher would have a point, but until then, the phrase ‘toxic femininity’ is as useful as a Straight Pride parade.

Lol. Just more buthurt stereotypicaly feminist gaslighting.

Yes. It absolutely, 100% is. Period.

How do we deal with toxic femininity and toxic masculinity though? How do you 'deal' with things so woven into someone's identity?

[–]shit-zen-giggles 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Don't know why you're being downvoted. I'm honestly not that favorable about either of those terms. I think it's a very flawed model of analysis to begin with.

To me there's just toxic behaviours, yes sometimes those have gender-differentiated manifestations, but the solution is to address the underlying toxicity rather than the gendered manifestation.

But that's just me and my 2 cents.

[+]TheOneTrueFacts 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They are flawed and no one is shy about saying how toxic masculinity should be a retired phrase. Which is why someone needed to point out the idea that many want toxic masculinity to be removed from the vocab but no problem championing cries about toxic feminity. I think it's odd that people can't see the hypocrisy there

[–]Quiet_Detail_3953 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think you're conflating the 2 situations. For years men have been saying that the term toxic masculinity is bs, and that the term should not be used because it has no clear definition and is just inflammatory. Whereas, the term toxic femininity began as a response to the refusal of feminists to stop using their all encompassing, hate inciting, non-defined term for any man that would dare challenge their self-appointed authority.

[–]sudev29 95 points96 points97 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

People regardless of their gender are capable of being toxic. Toxic 'masculinity' and 'femininity' is literally just toxicity with an extra word. First world always goes out of their way to create problems for themselves.

[–]Leading_Direction_84 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

FACTS.

[+]Sociable-Sam1 points 4 years ago* [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

Sure, but that's not how feminists use the term.

When they say "toxic masculinity" they're talking about innate toxicity of an entire gender.

[–]sudev29 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I understand what they mean but third wave feminism say a lot of wild shit so I'm not taking their terminology into serious consideration.

[–]maxlvb[S] 61 points62 points63 points 4 years ago (38 children) | Copy Link

The whole point of 'toxic masculinity' is to shift the responsibility of women's behavior towards men onto the men themselves

Women need to stop using 'toxic masculinity' to excuse their own behavior.

Feminism:Equality, when convenient.

Let me edit this for you.

Feminism: superiority, not equality

When people say shooting up a school is toxic masculinity, it's obvious that it's women's fault that men are shooting up schools. So women try to hide that by claiming toxic masculinity.

[–]arrouk 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

When women have blamed every behaviour they don't like on toxic masculinity it's already a broken term.

What we should be doing is having a conversation about WHY young men are doing this and what we can do to help them before tragedy strikes.

To simply lable them as incels or toxic masculinity is bullshit and it will never stop it.

[+]TheOneTrueFacts -14 points-13 points-12 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

When women have blamed every behaviour they don't like on toxic masculinity it's already a broken term.

Say feminists instead of women. It's important to make it look like people just dislike feminism. Not women as a whole.

[–]maxlvb[S] 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Say feminists instead of women.

Why? FYI the vast majority of feminists are women.

There's no rational or logical reason to absolve any/all women who identify as feminists of all that is wrong with feminism and their toxic femininity.

I am still trying to get any/all feminists to define feminism for me without using sexist anti-male stereotypes.

[+]TheOneTrueFacts -6 points-5 points-4 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

If you only want to criticize any/all women that identify as feminists. Then say feminists. If you want to criticize any/all women regardless of whether or not they are feminists, say women.

[–]maxlvb[S] 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Feminism is a belief, an ideology, a dogma.

Those that believe and follow feminism, are feminists, and mostly women. I see no reason to deny, ignore, let alone excuse the gender of those that call themselves feminists.

That's just another example of many women now trying to excuse and deny all that is wrong with feminism, by attempting to distance themselves from the very sexism and misandry of that which they claim to be...

Feminism is an ideology that claims to empower women by continually telling them how weak and vulnerable they are.

[+]TheOneTrueFacts 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

So you are fine judging all women by the actions of the feminists however you're upset at feminists for judging all men by the actions of some?

Seem odd to you.

[–]arrouk 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

No I'm fine judging all women on the behaviour of the majority. Not all women using these hateful terms are femanists and not all femanists use these terms.

[+]TheOneTrueFacts -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Majority of women don't make false accusations. So you'd be comfortable extrapolating that to all women and saying 'women don't make false accusations'?

Or 'women don't take advantage of biased family court'?

Or is it only the bad stuff you generalize about? Why is that?

[–]arrouk3 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

What are tou actually trying to say? You are acting as though I disagree with the idea that women can be bad. All people can be bad and almost everyone is bad to someone at some point in their life.

Women do make false accusations, take advantage of family court. Not all but some.

Men do get aggressive and lash out, not all but some.

I'm not the one making a 1 sided argument in bad faith. If tou want to assume the worst for men but the best for women that speaks to your bias, I see a lot of generalisations both positive and negative for men and women. I don't see many women seeing the same, they almost exclusively see men bad women good.

[–]maxlvb1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Majority of women don't make false accusations.

The majority of men dont rape...

All feminists and most women however believe that the feminist dogma of 'rape culture' is a conscious process of intimidation by men. It is, in reality, the dogma by which feminists attempt to keep women in a state of fear and control.

Paula Wright.

Men are not the only perpetrators of sexist culture. Men do not carry the entire blame for women's troubles. Women can, and often do enforce and tolerate a world of toxic femininity. And often make excuses for women behaving that way.

[–]Schadrach -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Those that believe and follow feminism, are feminists, and mostly women.

Most feminists are women, but most women are not feminists.

Think of it like killers - statistically more killers are black men than any other race/sex pairing (just under half). But the number of killers total is much smaller than the number of black men, so most black men are not killers, not even close.

The same applies to feminists and women. Women are a majority of feminists, but all feminists combined is a much smaller number than half the population and as a consequence most women are not feminists.

[–]maxlvb[S] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Feminism isn’t above criticism. Most polls suggest that the majority of women don’t even identify as feminists. Are we not allowed to question why? Or is that yet another topic that’s off limits?

Luke Kinsella.

We live in a gynocentric society. Everything men do is to please and impress women, all women do is demand more benefits.

[–]Schadrach 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminism isn’t above criticism.

No, it isn't.

Most polls suggest that the majority of women don’t even identify as feminists.

This was precisely my point - criticizing "women" is expressly not the same thing as criticizing "feminists", and the distinction is important.

[–]arrouk 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don't play the same low game SOME femanists have. If you lower yourself to their level you will lose us all any high ground the rest of us build.

[–]Man_of_culture_112 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The issue is this. When you say toxic "masculinity", you are making every SINGLE MAN on the planet accountable for what that man did. It is demonizing half the people on the planet and it is sick.

[–]WeEatBabies 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

There is zero masculinity in shooting up schools, or anyone!

People claiming so just want to hate on men!

[+]TheOneTrueFacts -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Agreed. It's a coincidence that it's always men. Being a man has nothing to do with it.

[–]WeEatBabies 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Being born a man and being masculine are two different things!

Now you are on an important journey, why is it always men? Why women don't do it?

That is the true question :D

On your journey you will find the purpose of this sub, and why we society to stop treating us differently.

You will also learn about violence by proxy, and how women use it!

[–]Miss_Cherise_ 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't even know where to start on this one. I'm just going to assume you're trolling...

[–]Quiet_Detail_3953 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Look, I can do it too.

When people say filicide is toxic femininity when women murder their children by drowning them, poisoning them, or stabbing them, it's obvious that it's men's fault that women kill children. So men try to hide that by claiming toxic femininity.

Can you try focusing on real issues, like all mass killers are mentally ill. Rather than use a false media/feminist narrative of "all men are bad"?

[–]maxlvb[S] 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

A two hour old account, just some feminist troll trying desperately to minimise toxic femininity...

Nothing to see here folks, move along... 🤣🤣🤣

Feminist selective agency. Women are free to do as they wish right up to the point where they suffer negative consequences for their actions, then it's everyone else's fault.

[+]TheOneTrueFacts 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Admitting that you believe in the concepts of toxic masculinity and toxic femininity is embarrassing. If you really think parts of masculinity are toxic, you aren't supporting mens rights at all. But I'm the troll?

[–]maxlvb[S] 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

Admitting that you believe in the concepts of toxic masculinity

The only toxic masculinity definition we're discussing here is corrupt feminist definition.

A little history for you:

The term toxic masculinity was originally created by the mythopoetic men's movement, with a completely different meaning. The mythopoets believed that society was forcing boys to be feminine, instead of letting them be themselves thus creating a toxic anti male societal environment for boys and men.

Feminists twisted the definition by demanding men be more feminine, and deciding that they know what's best for men.

The feminist definition of toxic masculinity is a backlash against the growing number of men speaking up about toxic feminism.

Masculinity is not toxic; it's the feminist attitudes towards masculinity that are toxic.

It's the toxic feminist ideology that is trying to impose an unnatural and divisive anti male society that's at fault. A system of thought and invented discriminatory practices in feminist ideology, culture, and economy, that feminists call the patriarchy and toxic masculinity.

If you really think parts of masculinity are toxic, you aren't supporting mens rights at all.

I dont think that at all. That is solely down to you alone. Care to explain why you think this way?

How about these quotes from 'famous' feminist leaders and authors...

  • Man-hating is everywhere, but everywhere it is twisted and transformed, disguised, tranquilized, and qualified. It coexists, never peacefully, with the love, desire, respect, and need women also feel for men. Always man-hating is shadowed by its milder, more diplomatic and doubtful twin, ambivalence.

Judith Levine

  • I feel that ‘man-hating’ is an honorable and viable political act, that the oppressed have a right to class-hatred against the class that is oppressing them.

Robin Morgan, Ms. Magazine Editor

  • The nuclear family must be destroyed… Whatever its ultimate meaning, the break-up of families now is an objectively revolutionary process.

Linda Gordon, Feminist

  • I want to see a man beaten to a bloody pulp with a high-heel shoved in his mouth, like an apple in the mouth of a pig.

Andrea Dworkin, Feminist

  • Since marriage constitutes slavery for women, it is clear that the women’s movement must concentrate on attacking this institution. Freedom for women cannot be won without the abolition of marriage.

Sheila Cronin, the leader of the feminist organization NOW

  • Marriage as an institution developed from rape as a practice.

Andrea Dworkin, Feminist

  • The institution of sexual intercourse is anti-feminist.

Ti-Grace Atkinson, Feminist

  • Rape is nothing more or less than a conscious process of intimidation by which all men keep all women in a state of fear.

Susan Brownmiller, Feminist, Against Our Will p.6

  • Politically, I call it rape whenever a woman has sex and feels violated.

Catherine MacKinnon, Feminist

  • The proportion of men must be reduced to and maintained at approximately 10% of the human race.

Sally Miller Gearhart, in The Future – If There Is One – Is Female

  • If life is to survive on this planet, there must be a decontamination of the Earth. I think this will be accompanied by an evolutionary process that will result in a drastic reduction of the population of males.

Mary Daly, Feminist

  • And if the professional rapist is to be separated from the average dominant heterosexual (male), it may be mainly a quantitative difference.

Susan Griffin, Feminist, Rape: The All-American Crime

  • If anyone is prosecuted for filing a false report, then victims of real attacks will be less likely to report them.

David Angier, Feminist

  • Men who are unjustly accused of rape can sometimes gain from the experience.

Catherine Comins, Asst Dean at Vassa, Feminist.

  • As long as some men use physical force to subjugate females, all men need not. The knowledge that some men do suffices to threaten all women. He can beat or kill the woman he claims to love; he can rape women…he can sexually molest his daughters… THE VAST MAJORITY OF MEN IN THE WORLD DO ONE OR MORE OF THE ABOVE.

Marilyn French, Feminist Author

  • I believe that women have a capacity for understanding and compassion which man structurally does not have, does not have it because he cannot have it. He’s just incapable of it.

Barbara Jordan, former Congresswoman, Feminist.

  • Women have their faults / men have only two: / everything they say / everything they do.

Popular Feminist Graffiti

  • “Hatred of men is actually brave and courageous and we need to celebrate the women who are willing to openly display their hatred towards men.”

Psychologist/Feminist. Tracey Brimmer

  • I feel like a lot of male Feminists are like that animal that we tried to introduce to eradicate pests, and they've become more annoying than the original pest."

So angry quotes from feminists about how men are the worst are toxic femininity. And angry misognyists are toxic masculinity?

Seems like a fair and balanced approach I guess.

[–]maxlvb[S] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So angry quotes from feminists about how men are the worst are toxic femininity.

Yes. Isn't it time you realised that fact?

It is impossible to form a stereotype about either of the two primary genders without simultaneously forming a concurrent and complementary stereotype about the other. Or, more simply: misogyny mirrors misandry

It's the shooters fault.... .... .... isn't that obvious?

[–]maxlvb[S] 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Like this shooter?

According to Geldof, he wrote the song after reading a telex report[6] at Georgia State University's campus radio station, WRAS, on the shooting spree of 16-year-old Brenda Ann Spencer, who fired at children in a school playground at Grover Cleveland Elementary School in San Diego, California, on 29 January 1979, killing two adults and injuring eight children and one police officer. Spencer showed no remorse for her crime; her explanation for her actions was "I don't like Mondays. This livens up the day".[7] Geldof had been contacted by Steve Jobs to play a gig for Apple, inspiring the opening line about a "silicon chip".[6] The song was first performed less than a month later.

Inside most feminists is a misandrist totalitarian screaming to get out. They don't like having another point of view in the room and they try to squash it by character assassination and name calling.

Though did you have time go back 43 years to find a female shooter?

What you mean like feminists do all the time, by 'going back a hundred years, two hundred years, and even thousands of years in history to claim the perpetual oppression and victim hood of all women today due solely to the feminist dogma of toxic masculinity and the mythical patriarchy?

If feminist can do that, so can I...

What exactly is your objection again?

Women abusing men? They deserved it

Women abusing other women? They are displaying internalized misogyny and the patriarchy is at fault

No matter the situation these intellectually impaired whores will flip it around so that it's the man's fault. The woman is always the victim. smh.

Articles like this are the perfect example of Toxic Femininity.

Women need to start accepting what "agency" means.

Acountability: Feminist's kryptonite

[–]The_Peacock_King 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This was close to the bottom of the article.

"Yes, women are flawed, women are human beings and women can display toxic traits. But is toxic femininity really a concept that needs to be addressed?"

Wow, first off admission of women displaying toxic traits! Than the deflection hits, the ignorance, & lack of equality.

Toxic behavior is toxic.

If woman are being manipulative cunts, than other woman should call it out.

The modern feminist movement really is a manipulative monster. They really divide men up into subsections, they value beta men, gay men, trans whatever pronoun they make up, and the white knights. As these people tend to have overwhelming feminine characteristics. They pretend to like POC, but not conservative men that support the nuclear family. So in the end they destroy these communities as generations pass.

We don’t need ‘straight Pride’ or Men’s Rights Activism because being straight or male does not put you at a disadvantage. They are false equivalents, cheapening the very real and important issues facing men and women alike.

Another quote from the article..... I thought the feminist movement was all about equality? Doesn't look like it to me.

It's just another example of feminism:equality when convenient.

The issue is this. Will Smith slapping Chris rock was toxic masculinity but what the author ‘forgets’ (conveniently doesn’t mention) is the fact that jada would have given will Smith such a hard time had he not ‘stood up’ for her. That is toxic femininity. Women have far more control than they realise (admit) and can be very cunning with this control. They don’t want to give it up hence the vehement argument against the use of toxic femininity. It shines the light on their horrible behaviour. Feminists are essentially the mean girls from high school. Anecdotally I have noticed when they ‘debate’ they follow the same script every time. They appear nice to draw you in to the discussion then they tear apart your argument with flawed ‘logic’ and straw men. They literally have nothing to offer society except pseudoscience. Logic is like a poison to them. The writer laughably states Maher used toxic femininity to fit his own agenda whilst ironically doing the exact same thing! It was what her whole piece was! If they hadn’t double standards they would have none.

Jada Smith is a succubus and her "husband" is an emasculated cuck who was forced to take the blame for her adultery (with her son's friend) in front on an entire nation.

The violence didn't start with the slap of a comedian - the violence was the narcissistic, twisted mind of Jada Smith.

Jada Smith is a monster, Hair or no hair.

They first time I saw the video of this 'incident' my immediate response was it's staged' and very badly done at that.

And now no matter how many times I watch it, I realise my original conclusion was and is the right one...

Feminism is the problem. Not men. Not women. Feminism.

Nicola Thorp- the author of this swill of article - is a feminist (=entitled moron). Go though her articles and you'll she has made a career on male bashing/ extolling all is female-related. If you analyze feminism you'll soon come to the inescapable conclusion that makes no sense. It's more like a religion. No need to base anything on facts for these excuse of human beings.

[–]trashtony69 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh no, they’re complaining because some men are pointing out toxic femininity would be toxic masculinity’s counterpart. Women use being women as an excuse to be toxic all the time, in many ways. Yet even when that’s the case, it’s still “toxic masculinity” and even when blatant misandry is shown, it’s just “internalised misogyny”. Looks like there’s a lack of accountability and an abundance of self-victimisation.

This particular guy did something stupid, got called out on it, then accused his critics of toxic femininity. He misused the term. In this case, the article is right. He shouldn't use the term to justify his bad behavior. Women should also not use toxic masculinity to justify their own bad behavior.

But this article is a bit of a straw man. Because usually the term toxic femininity is used in a more reasonable fashion. In this case, it wasn't, and it is right to criticise him for it.

[–]maxlvb[S] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Really?

Feminists, women, and their white knight defenders (like you?) need to stop holding men to standards they're personally and collectively unwilling to meet.

Men need feminism like bicycles need fish.

I am not a white knight. Lol. But the guy in the article was not being criticized unfairly. He said something stupid and rightfully got called out in it.

When women blame toxic masculinity for their own mistakes they should be called out. Likewise when men blame toxic femininity for their mistakes, they should also be called out. Did you read the article? Do you think the guy was right to blame toxic femininity for him being called out?

There is plenty of toxic femininity to call out without having to pull it out of thin air for no reason. What makes you think thr criticisms of him were an instance of toxic femininity?

I see the pro-choice debate goes to the heart of human freedom of choice and free-committment/freedom. For men, instead of training men to be soldiers 1st, it is important for them to be supported and loved into freedom. Then they are more able to make the free choice in who they choose to partner with and community to nourish and defend - possibly to the point of killing, but in defense of the community. For women, instead of training women to be men's/ soldiers' caretakers, pleasure objects, and only supported to the extent they slave for others 1st, it is important women are supported and loved into freedom 1st. Then they are able to make the free choice in who they choose to partner with and what community to nourish and defend - to the point of abortion if needed, in defense of the community.

With men, if there’s a problem people blame all men for the individual mans bad behaviour. If it’s a female issue you demand society has to overcome it.
