I’m honestly on both sides of the fence…when I was 18-28 I was married to a man who was 35 when I met him but things degraded and I had to divorce him but I’m now with a man my own age at 32 and he is my absolute soulmate in every way so I feel like it also might depend on when you meet who’s going to be your forever man.

See I used to think this until I started dating a guy only a year older than me. Fast forward a few years later, still successful.

The older guys I went for when I was younger, however, wanted sex.

You're correct puberty starts sooner for girls and biological clock ticks faster. Not to mention you have much more opportunities for relationships and to get it out of the system. You're also programmed to seek provider and protector and older men had more time to accumulate experience and wealth. On other hand you women don't have to achieve anything to be interesting to men. You just have to be average looking and be pleasant to be around.(much easier to be like that with men you can respect)

Honestly, it very much depends.

You sound like you have not been with very good men in your age bracket and have had better experiences with older men and that’s okay.

That said, you feel “extremely hot” with an older guy and it turns you on so that sounds more like a fetish (no judgment) than a solid basis to give advice to all women lol.

I think your whole post is just based on your experience but I don’t think the advice itself is any kind of solid.

Edit: also, idk what kind of 20yo woman has the same maturity as a 35yo man. If a 35yo man is as mature as 20yo woman, I’d be running for the blue and yellow purple hills.

I've dated several older guys throughout my twenties. Age differences ranged from seven years to thirteen years to twenty seven years.

My first boyfriend was also 21 when I was 16. He was nice and a protective provider kind of guy, but I remember that when my classmates at school (junior year of high school/year 12 in NZ) found out we were together, they went to the vice principal, she wasn't too happy about the age gap and called my parents and it created a big drama at school. When they had the year 12 formal/junior prom, our dean/head of year explicitly said that the age limit was 18 for partners from other schools. I was the only girl not allowed to bring my boyfriend. I was so angry at the time, but honestly, I had a good time with people my age that night and if he had been there, the vibe might have been a little different as he was way older than the other boys there.

Some of these men were abusive, some weren't.

Several were alcoholic, although being an alcoholic does not make you abusive in and of itself.

Some of them were incredibly incredibly kind and taught me a lot of things, including the oldest guy I dated who I met at university. He tutored me for free and has helped me in my teaching career over the years. He is a teacher too to all ages and loves it.

Every one of the older guys I have dated, whether they were good or bad, has taught me something important.

One of them who taught me the most also gave me some pretty big trust issues. He was an alcoholic and tried hard to get clean but it wasn't working out so well. He had violent tendencies and police got involved, they didn't really help and in some ways made it worse.

The hard lesson I learned from him at 21 is that, 'If he wanted to he would'. He tried to get clean up to a point, but not enough, and I was already a nanny at my day job. I did not want to be a nanny to a thirty nine year old man too.
