While it's great that this happened because it couldn't have happened to a more deserving person asking for the verdict to be set aside is standard procedure and having the judge say no is also standard procedure. They are going through the motions so they can get to the appeal process which they will also lose.

They are going through the motions so they can get to the appeal process which they will also lose.

In my lawsuit my ex did exactly the same. The law allows you to appeal 4 times here, an she appealed exactly 4 times, even if there was no possibility of success.

It's because the objective is not to win, but to cause the most possible damage. They live for that, and while the lawsuit doesn't end, she can play the victim card. They do this for years and years.

"the process is the punishment"

[–]Aimless-Nomad 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Terrifying truth right there. Even worse in a country like India.

[–]Aimless-Nomad 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Are you ok now?

[–]pappo4ever 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yes, in a way. Girlfriend left, lost job, but that was 7 years ago. Now I have another job, I'm fine, I just have a different life altogether.

[–]Aimless-Nomad 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good for you buddy. Stay away from the nutjobs in the future.

How is she even able to pay for legal representation at this point? She is something like 7 million in the red.

[–]Klexosinfreefall 48 points49 points50 points 4 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

She had liability insurance so her insurance company was paying for it but because she was found to have acted with "actual malice" which means she acted with knowledge of the falsity they want their money back and are refusing to pay out.

So that is how she got to where she is now. Virginia has a bond but has to be posted for an appeal, an appeal bond, which means she will have to post a substantial amount of money with interest to even attempt and appeal.

The judge slanted the case in her favor and this was done not to prejudice Johnny Depp but to close all of the avenues Amber Heard would have to appeal. There is no avenue she can reasonably take because the judge was good to her and everything else has been settled. The jury situation has been resolved so there is nothing left for Amber Heard to do other than pay the piper.

[–]Neo201069 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

I believe she only needs the bond to stop JD from starting the process of getting his money from her estate. She can appeal at any time for a very small fee.

[–]Klexosinfreefall 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

It's something like half a million dollars a year plus interest for her appeal bond. Since the judgment is final I believe Johnny Depp can initiate collection proceedings but I don't think he's in much of a hurry to do so. It is more than likely the appeal judge will just laugh her case out of the court.

[–]Neo201069 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

To be honest i don't think JD gives a flying fuck about the money. I think 'eventually' he will forgive the debt if he can. He got what he wanted. The truth is out there now.

[–]robo2na 18 points19 points20 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

He should absolutely collect the settlement and donate it to a worthy cause. Not pledge, donate it.

[+]Neo201069 -27 points-26 points-25 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

While donating the money would be great, everyone makes mistakes. We all do fucked up shit"even while good intention-ed". She has no money to pay him, and while she intentionally lied, and with malice. I believe it would be better for him to move on. Again the truth is out there. No good can come from beating a dead horse. If he pushes it, i would have to rethink my opinion. He was no angel with his substance abuse.

[–]Yardael 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He never hurt her(bunch of his exs testified praised him as bf). Don't act like his substance abuse balances her actual abuse towards him(damaged finger, chasing him around the house)

[–]throwawayincelacc 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There's a difference between mistakes and malice. A mistake doesn't necessarily have to harm someone else. Or, the mistake caused harm but not intentionally.

There's also many examples of mistakes that don't receive any sort of leeway. If you're a man caught drunk driving that's an instant punishment even if it's your first ticket.

Collecting the money could go a long way with showing that women can't just always get away with something so malicious and pass it off as a mistake if the truth is found in court. And double bonus, if he donates that money to something like a men's shelter or another charity that supports men with similar problems that's even better.

[–]Klexosinfreefall 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's believed that he'll likely not really pursue it but rather keep it as a card up his sleeve. Like a fuck off and leave me alone or I'll collect this shit kind of thing

[–]MarsRisen 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He actually did say he didn’t want the money. If only Amber would just stfu and move on, he may too. Lol

[+]Mycroft033 -8 points-7 points-6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If he forgives the money it makes him look better too

[–]ChanceGlacieus 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He should take all the money he gets from her and publicly donate it to the charities she promised the money to in the first place. She looks bad. He looks good. The charities get the money they were promised. One person suffers while many triumph.

[–]Aimless-Nomad 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The kid is probably musk's. If thats the case money ain't ever gonna be a problem.

[–]Alarmed-Ad6871 -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You know he was convicted of 12 counts of abuse against her in the UK right?

[–]Klexosinfreefall 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Then why isn't he in jail?

Oh right! It's because you have no idea what you're talking about. JD wasn't convicted of anything as it was a civil trial and not criminal. The judge said that 12 of the 14 incidents could have possibly happened and therefore the Sun wasn't committing defamation because if they believed it was true then they weren't deliberately lying.

AH was not a party to that case and was merely a witness and the judge said because she donated all of her divorce settlement she is obviously not lying... but as we know now she merely pledged the money and didn't donate anything. There may be perjury charges in the UK as a result of such an egregious lie.

And lastly, everything about that case was corrupt. The Judge, Andrew Nichol was intimately connected with Dan Wootton, The Sun’s journalist who posted the defamatory allegation that JD was a “wife beater”. The connection is through the Judge’s own son, Robert N Palmer, who works alongside Wootton at TalkRadio, part of the same group owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. Wootton, is a journalist and executive editor of The Sun newspaper and a regular host of TalkRadio’s drivetime show. An incestuous conflict of interest, putting it mildly.

the legal motion was a joke to begin with.

In case you're not aware, one juror had the same name as his father, and responded to a jury summons that was intended for his father, but didn't specify him.

So Heard's lawyer was arguing that somehow tainted the jury pool, even though the guy responded in good faith, went through the jury selection process, heard the evidence and made a ruling just like the rest of them.

Jury pools are selected randomly...it literally made no difference if Joe Blow Sr or Jr responded, or if Mary Jane Rottencrotch did.

they tried to argue that he just WANTED to be part of a celebrity trial and that he had predispositions...they literally pretended to forget that jurors don't know WHAT trial they're going to hear until the day it starts. These aren't honest people

[–]Sambo376 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Also, the Virginia code Amber's Lawyers cite in the motion even states that it is ultimately the lawyers and their clients responsibility to verify the information shown on the jury panel and "errors in information shown on the jury panel shall not be grounds for a mistrial."

Nate the Lawyer on YouTube has a great breakdowns of both the motion and Depp's team's rebuttal.

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Also, he didn’t lie to get in or commit fraud like the media tried to spin it. Jury forms when they are sent don’t contain the birth day. This was a case of father and son with the same name. When the juror went to serve as a juror, he put his information. Heards legal team knew, even mrs heard made a comment about him not being over 70 years old. They had the opportunity to get him removed but chose not to. Now they are attacking the juror.

Guess she'll be filing for bankruptcy.

[–]Dementium84 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Even in bankruptcy she would be liable because it was proven with actual malice.

[–]u2020bullet 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She's gonna be so mad she might shit the bed again.

[–]pappo4ever 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This lawsuit was horrible, it was like hearing a man trying to fight against a teenager with mental problems. It's incredible that the law don't recognize that a person with clear mental issues like Heard cannot be trialed nor given the power to start lawsuit, she belongs to a mental hospital.

[+]MarsRisen -13 points-12 points-11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol this woman just needs to disappear for awhile and reflect on herself a bit. Once she stops the circus act, I’m sure Johnny would be willing to forgive the judgement. He’s echoed he would. Lol
