Feminism became a paradoxical and prejudiced ideology, that preaches you need diversity of biological sexes in the boardroom as it is important, but it is unimportant in family units where good examples from both sexes/genders can be presented to kids. They have replaced any and all valid points and reasonable goals they had before with a "we should use any excuse to support our hatred against other groups" including men, antifeminist or conservative women, etc.

As we see from many feminist group pro arab (they don't respect women much) and anti Israel rants are feminist now. Supporting rapists who only claim to be trans around sentencing time and start to rape female convicts behind bars somehow also became feminist now. If it supports their entitlement and hatemongering plenty of this like this became part of feminism.

But like Liberalism, if it isn't defined by its present day hatemongering followers, but by its original goals, we would see a very different, and positive, picture.

Feminism is a focussed advocacy group that works exclusively for the benefit of women.

If you disagree, give me 1 big win the group put recourses behind, that wasn't primarily beneficial for women. So one where women stepped aside for mens benefit.

I was slightly interested in whether there are some coherent objections or opposition, but I think this sub is more concerned with extreme elements and groups rather than the ideology or philosophy. Along with a lot of trolls.

That feminists, people attached to the label, are a bunch of twats stands to reason; they're just a group of people too with their usual human failings.

Feminism isn’t a clearly formed discipline. It has been attached to philosophies such as postmodernism and poststructuralism, however, traditional feminism existed prior to these ideas. Traditional feminism (first wave and, to some extent, second wave) sought common, practical outcomes that would be beneficial to women and girls; the goals of these movements were (broadly) to give women the vote and to give women social autonomy. Third-wave feminism (so-called) has been an abortion compared to its predecessors.

The problem with third-wave feminism is that it places emphasis on changing men without recognizing that men did not ask to be changed. The contemporary impulse of modern feminism is to deny men the right to be content in themselves and to exist as individuals; online movements like "#YesAllMen" are clear evidence of this.

Third-wave feminism is grotesquely distorted and requires all women to be in perfect lock-step with its ever-shifting tenants or face castigation. I point to public intellectual Camille Paglia, herself a noted "Amazonian Feminist" (as distinct from third-wave), a lesbian, and a self-professed trans individual. Unlike her third-wave counterparts, Paglia places emphasis on women's autonomy and their ability to think, act, and take responsibility for themselves. Third-wave strives to perpetually excuse poor decisions and poor behavior on the part of women in favor of an infantilizing doctrine that holds that no woman is ever responsible for her own actions and that all women respond to oppression from a lattice of power (magically controlled by men, somehow) in which they are embedded.

The biggest problem with third-wave feminism, though, is that its arguments effectively destroy the progress of its more successful first-wave and second-wave predecessors which relied on the argument that women could be and were responsible individuals.

Such a shame to see what's become of the dream of Susan B. Anthony and so many others.
