There's a line in the movie where Tyler Durden says “We're a generation of men raised by women”. That line I think was addressing the epidemic of single motherhood and the loss of the father figure as a result of policies that favored women and sidelined fathers. But also, I think that line meant that boys being raised by women learned how to cook, clean, manage the finances, etc. because Tyler follows that line up with “I'm wondering if another woman is really the answer we need”, meaning what does a woman now bring to the table in a relationship with a man? Only sex? Because American men these days are self sufficient when it comes to everything else.
