When I give a definition beforehand or say "I only accept this definition of the word" I am setting up groundrules to have a conversation.

That's why I always refuse to accept this new definition of sexism or racism, meaning it being a mixture of prejudice and power.

My definition of racism is literally translatable to race hatred. Hatred means the strongest form of disliking.

If someone is sexist towards women, that makes them a women-hater. My definition is very exclusionary and very narrow. It can only be used for very, very extreme chases. And that's how the words should be used. My definition also excludes concepts like mansplaining or manspreading, because that's not a sign of woman-hating.

Mark my words: Definitions matter. Define beforehand and call them out, when they try to shift definitions mid-conversation. I know, that requires patience and a woke mind (pun intended), but it's neccesary to win any discussion.

They are good with poisoning the well, throwing dirt and using smokebombs to their advantage. You have to be the one who brings clearity and cutting-edge arguments.

Why would that make it okay to hate on men? Most forms of oppression are similar, but second class people are oppressed differently, according to "the oppressors" who gain from keeping the status quo. For instance, there are the stereotypes. Mexicans are thieves, Irish are drunks, blacks are lazy, women are evil, Asians can't drive, etc. But the common thread is the idea that they deserve to be treated poorly by "the oppressors" simply for existing.

Until women "have power " and prove they just wanted to abuse people free of consequences.

Here's the deal. Sorry men in the past sucked to women, but I've made a point of treating women right, fair and equal and that extends to various races and orientations.

But I'm absolutely not going to foot the bill for some dumb assholes and anyone who thinks they're going to make me is going to get their insides rearranged in a very unprofessional manner.

And I know I'm not alone. Really don't know what they actually think is going to happen. You think women are going to get their "time behind the whip" making all men pay for what some assholes did?

In diachronic (or historical) linguistics, semantic change is a change in one of the meanings of a word. Every word has a varity of senses and connotations, which can be added, removed, or altered over time, often to the extent that congnates across space and time have very different meanings.

@1st one -

Kind of obvious what it's saying/suggesting; it's suggesting that feminism with a specific lean toward gender studies/educational systems, do have institutional & political power, despite how much they try to deny it.

@2nd one -

See above about denial; it attempts to deny women have any power, and basically tells them what patriarchy (that they're "fighting against") has been telling them - that they have no political, economic, or institutional power.

The awkward thing is, there are females in politics, rather high ranking & well listened to seats of politics, including some nations being lead by women, among other "not quite the president but still hugely influential" seats in US politics.

There's the anecdote of women driving something like 70% of a household family's purchasing decisions - if you don't acknowledge women's position to influence demand, especially within capitalism and other forms of trade being built upon supply & demand dynamics, then they really are out of touch with economic realities.

Institutional is a bit vague, as I see it, feminism & gender studies based courses only really "came to rise" in the past couple decades - education systems are one form of institution. It needs a specific definition on what institution they're referencing here; it could be anything; religious institution, political/federal institution, social institution. But especially through the educational institution, they have growing 'power' - so again, denying they have any institutional power is disingenuous at best, and completely out of touch with reality at worst.

From what I get about that snippet, is Amber Jean thinks sexism (presumably against men) is something she will "some day" be able to do.

Without being socially or conceptually aware enough that all it takes is a #KillAllMen tweet to qualify; she doesn't need to wait for "some day".

And probably most disturbing - she implies that it would be empowering, to herself, rather than see herself as an oppressor. Because apparently women can't be oppressors, or initiate any kind of violence ever, right? (/s)

Okay Amber, so far you're defining yourself as a socially inept twat, who sees sexism against men as some goal to achieve without stopping to acknowledge the key word there it'd be sexism.

Taylor attempts... something... then Amber tries what I can only assume is a setup for a straw-man argument.

I might take a minute to pick apart the "there is no reality, only perception" thing, but I think the discussion would fly right over Amber's head - Taylor tries with the "these very real, concrete, and functional objects work; they are real; people use them every day." -- but I suspect it will fly right over Amber's head, that or she'll try to distract and redirect the discussion in some other way.

((I might add here, that reality vs perception only works with individual arguments - as soon as you start including groups of people agreeing on a perception, it becomes their reality; Amber's argument falls apart)).

And yup, Amber redirects it back to the initial thing; "my perception is that women being sexist is disempowering" - does not acknowledge the argument Taylor brought up; at all; that it's still sexism.

Then starts digging the hole denying that the extreme radical feminists don't describe the movement - has this person never heard of the term "feminazi"?

Paragraphs of text from Amber just to point out how batshit insane she really is, because apparently the car, bus, or train she uses as transport is apparently just made up. Then justifies herself on shaky argument based on language differences.

Taylor tries, but Amber is just too far gone, honestly.

Then Amber contradicts herself; specifically with the line of "its just a word we use to describe it" - No shit we're not saying she is literally a piece of dried tree sap, the usage (etymology) of the word Amber in this context specifically is her proper name.

Though with how much she's struggling, my bets are on sentient piece of tree sap that figured out how to text. How about you?

Then, apparently, denies that "sexist" can be independent of either a man being sexist against women, or a woman being sexist against men; the only redeeming thing about that last block is she's trying to take it back to the earlier argument(s). But she's spend the last 6 or 7 images worth of text just spinning tires not getting anywhere.

At least Taylor calls her out on it (I can only imagine whatever stuff went back and forth between the captures).

And then Amber is about as dismissive as she can be, without being explicitly hostile, you can practically see the passive aggression through the text.
