Most of the comments I read were "women get insulted" and "women just got rights". I agree that women receive sexual comments and insults on the Internet. I don't see what rights have to do with hate.

I didn't see but one or two comments talking about actual hate directed at a woman on IFunny.

Misogyny = any criticism of any woman for any reason.

Women are literal royalty to people. I would assume it was inherent to humans if it weren't for examples like the middle east.

Case in point, there was a thread on r/climbing where someone said this female climber looked like she was on PEDs:

It was met with many cries of "Oh my god! How could you!?! Misogyny! So you think every woman who is strong must be on PEDs?"

It's like they immediately forget that there are posts every single day about strong female climbers and no one says a thing about PEDs. That's always the MO with these people. They immediately discount all other evidence, and act like this one case is the norm.

I pointed out the same accusations being made against male climbers, more of them in fact. I also pointed out that all accusations of PED use made against female climbers were directed at this one climber in particular who was the subject of this the thread, and people explicitly saying that she looks much more muscular than the typical female climber. It didn't matter. It must be because she's a woman. There's no other explanation. The downvotes prove it. How could 80 people be wrong about something?

Another thing is that she could easily be more muscular than any woman a person has seen in real life, and more muscular than many professional athletes you'd see on TV. Whereas, male climbers are nowhere near as muscular as dudes you see at the gym every day. And it's still easier to find people wondering about male climber PED use.

I also pointed out that if you arbitrarily click on a thread with a man who is ripped or doing something strong - an actor, or a thread on r/nextfuckinglevel, there is almost always an accusation of "roids." It doesn't matter, everyone knows women are accused more often. Even people who were defending the accusation admitted that "maybe women are accused more often than men."

It's fucking laughable. It's confirmation bias taken to the extreme. But every example likes this solidifies in their minds how misogynistic our society is.

Whereas every insult towards a man on this site is directed towards their masculinity. I also see so many people wishing rape on a man who might have done something wrong. Also alot of homophobic jokes have lots of misandry entwined in it.

I think men a fed up with the misandry and double standards. It has turned many men cold. What do you expect when you continue pointless hate? Eventually it will backfire on those who promote hate.

You are absolutely correct. Men are being used as scapegoats to glorify women as heroic victims even when men are the victims.

They have to manipulate in order to further perpetuate and protect the thing they were originally manipulating. It’s total bullshit. I think gaslighting is the term.

For example, men have a higher suicide rate because we’re disposable and only matter when we’re making somebody else’s life easier at our own expense. If you mention this, women will start going on about how men don’t see counseling, and that women have more attempts because the patriarchy makes them feel hopeless. When in reality there’s all kind of support for most women, but little to no actual help for the average man.

So if you point that out, you’ll be called a misogynist who hates all women. Because you’re pointing out that men have it worse in some situations. It’s absolutely insane, but totally accepted.

It depends on the sub. Some subs misogyny is prevalent. I tend to see more misogyny than misandry in the subs I browse, but that may not reflect most of Reddit. And we cannot ignore the misogyny here. That being said, other subs can also have more misandry.

"Remember, it is never their fault.

First rule of women: they're not responsible of anything"

Top comment on that was

"Accountability is like kryptonite to the modern woman / feminist"

Maybe there is a lot of hate for women on reddit. And people turn a blind eye to it because they are misogynists?

You see what you seek.

If you look for misogynistic posts, you will find them. If you look for misogynistic motives, you will find them too.

Part of having access to the thoughts and views of vast swaths of humanity. A non-zero percent of all humans are misogynists. A non-zero percent are believe the earth is flat.

How we deal with the fact that there are tons of malfunctioning humans is more of a personal choice.
