My ex kissed a dude and said she loved him when we were engaged. She was honest about it which helped with trust and I figures it would get better with time. And to an extent it did, but never really returned. If you visit those subs, her coming clean was about the only thing she did for reconciliation. No therapy (until over a decade later), no MC, "took responsibility" but also said she was young and in a bad place...the usual shit. Well around 11 years into the marriage I cheated. I didn't feel like I was unhappy in the marriage, so I'm exploring the reasoning with my therapist. I didn't come clean, it was alot more than a kiss, and I said some pretty hurtful things to my wife. So she left and we're getting divorced. I would say for most couples reconciliation isn't possible...its just delaying the inevitable. So she ripped off the bandaid instead of trying couples counseling etc. It absolutely sucks, but I dont blame her. She's a very attractive woman so I don't think she'll have trouble finding someone else when she's ready. Hope that helps

It can work out if the cheating party ends their behavior and commits to complete honesty. Then it stays better if BOTH parties can throw their egos in the fire and see how their behavior contributed to the breakdown in the marriage. Counseling can help sort it out by helping the couple work through their individual histories and see where the marital rope unraveled.
