The most recent doctor was shit not because they were a woman but because the replaced the writer with some woke idiot, they have gone back to the old writer, the last episode was quite good imho.

As much as I liked David Tennant he's done his time and it's now there should be someone else, WE NEED A GINGER DR.

Maybe an unpopular opinion here, but the latest iteration of DW was terrible not because the Doctor was a woman, or even because of so-called 'woke' writing. DW has often shown politically-left leanings, it's just that in the past the talking points were actually well written. The Jodie/Chibbers era has just had bad writing, plain and simple. Chibbers leaves behind an armoury of unused Chekhov's guns, is unable to write convincing dialogue, and tears up established DW lore.

Add to that the fact that a lot of the acting is poor (including Jodie imo), the new 'music' sucks, and the direction and cinematography is outright confusing at times... well, the show is just awful now. You could have the doctor be male and have all the woke stuff removed and it would still be an utter mess.

I watched 1 episode with last doctor to confirm it would go to shit. I was not surprised.

Its not beacuse of gender swap. The last Capaldi season was trash, his companion was worst character in entire universe and beacuse of her and most of episods of that season make me belive that this show is over. There are two situations that stick in my mind: when roman soldier accuse Billy for being sexist, by having sex only with women (she ofc brag about it in every episode) and Missy plot was cool, just like her

I'll echo a few others here.

The Doctor being a woman isn't an issue by itself. The story doesn't require the Doctor to be a man, and having a woman in the role doesn't necessarily ruin it. However, the writing was absolutely horrible during the Chibnall era.

I used to love DW but it just became a load of PC nonsense unfortunately. Jodie was far from the best, but not terrible. It was the absolutely dreadful scripts that did her no justice.

I do hope that Tennant coming back for a bit signals a change back to the original style and attitude the show had, ready for the next fella.

Also possibly controversial, but 9 was definitely the best. 🤭
