Really well versed and sourced article all throughout. I would like to point out the personal experiences of the author:

I can’t work with him,” stated my exasperated colleague. “He’s just your typical white, privileged, male,” she said as she sat down without a second thought as to the nature of her venting. “What do you mean,” I inquired. “He’s just sexist, and homophobic. I can’t work with men like him,” she replied. “Men like him,” I asked. “Men who come from privilege,” she said. “I come from privilege, are you able to work with me,” I replied. “Oh, you’re different, you’re not like him,” she noted. We were talking about one of our clients.

“Do you enjoy being a male in this field,” a clinician asked me. Wary, unsure of how to respond, I said, “Yeah it depends on my coworkers of course, but I’m pretty used to it.” “I don’t know if you’ve noticed this but nine times out of ten when a man is in this field, he’s pretty good. You know because there aren’t a lot of you,” said this clinician. “Yeah, I could see that,” I stated feeling awkward.

On one occasion, during a group supervision where I was the only male amongst 7 female supervisors, and 8 female trainees, a colleague suggested I take on her male client after they had their first conversation. She told us that this client had asked her for her views on feminism during a 15-minute phone intake and that this displayed boundary crossing tendencies during their session. This question made her uncomfortable by her account and provided sufficient evidence after a single session that he was a “narcissistic or misogynist.” After one session.

After facing the prompting of my supervisor, also a woman, nodding in approval and giving me the sense that this was not a choice, but a wonderful learning opportunity… I exclaimed in a frenzy, “No, wait, I disagree with all of you. How do you know he wouldn’t get the most benefit out of having a safe relationship with a woman?” If I had continued, I would have also liked to ask, “What is it you think I can provide him that you can’t?”

The room fell tense and silent for a moment (If there was a cover to be blown, I had certainly destroyed mine). The felt sense regarding the matter was that there wasn’t much consideration as to what I could provide this client, other than my gender. My colleague appeared to be asking if I could help her get out of her own discomfort with this male client. There appeared to be no desire to hear his core pain, the reason for his behavior.

One interesting point it brings up is “toxic masculinity” and “female hysteria” toxic masculinity has become the new bullshit diagnosis for mental health except for men instead of women, instead of actually helping men they tell them they are inherently toxic and give them a bullshit line about toxic masculinity, sounds very similar to what happened 80 years ago with female hysteria

I found the locker room bit kinda interesting because I remember in middle school girls would say all kinds of messed up shit. Like the way they talk about people is CREEPY. I swear they could all get a job in professional stalking.

Women outnumber men in psychology, but not in the field's top echelons

The Changing gender composition of psychology

It is a PROPAGANDA site that does not claim to be run by actual psychologists. They describe themselves as: "Critical Therapy Antidote (CTA) is a platform for talking therapists and allied mental health professionals who are concerned about the negative impact of Critical Social Justice (CSJ) on their professions. Founded in 2020..."

This post is supposedly written by Micheal Olan, but you can assess for yourself whether the pic on this blog post matches the pic of Michael Olan the pre-licensed therapist listed on Psych Today who is an INTERN at the Claret Center.

It is important to know that the Chicago School or Professional Psychology, at which the author is supposedly pursuing his PhD has a record of lying about their accreditation status. And from what I can tell it was not actually accredited until 2009 even though it was established in 1979.

The article starts with a discussion of the Rosenhan study which has been shown to be fraudulent. This makes me question the author's credentials.

Later in the article he talks about "off-brand feminism" which is not a thing. He then talks about "anti-patriarchy feminism" as it it is bad thing to be against male dominance of families and societies. He claims, "this is not your grandmother's feminism" as if he has any idea about the history of feminism.

The citations look academic, but include a bunch of internet sites and blogs. Any PhD student knows that you use sources like that with great care, and not as legitimate scholarship.

There is nothing about this blog post that implies a good faith effort to engage in a conversation about gender in psychology, or an expertise in the study of the history of gender or sexism in psychology. And that is really sad because there is a real issue to be discussed here if we could get passed the propaganda.
