In summary, it's basically stating that we are going to be embarking on a new enlightenment period, much like the one seen in the renaissance period that threw off the shackles that religion place on critical thinking and productivity.

I'm familiar with the ideology that many supporters of the Dark Enlightenment and neo-reaction subscribe to. The general consensus is that the ideas of the 18th century enlightenment (rights, democracy, equality, political universalism, and the like) are what lead to the many problems that western society faces now. The idea is not to start a new enlightenment but to negate the old one.

Well it's already starting. Feminism is peaking now, and now 'fringe' groups opposing it like theredpill and men's rights will eventually bring it back into balance. Any group that promotes critical thinking (atheism, theredpill, human rights) will eventually gather and keep more members than dogmatic approaches (social justice, feminism, religion) as when people find the cause, they really believe in it. It's like buddhism, we don't offer the answers as such, it's more that we offer information, and ask people to make their own decision. Weirdly, I see a lot of conflicting views accepted on this subreddit, there is not really any canned advice given out, it's adjusted to the situation, we don't deal in absolutes (as opposed to SRS and such where you will be banned for disagreeing with the hivemind, redpill users are rarely banned, so long as they are misunderstood and not intentionally trolling) - this is in stark contrast to reddit's and the world's opinion of us.

Most of the isms we've experienced in the last few centuries were the result of a major upheaval in social structure caused by the discovery and use of the massive amount of energy stored in fossil fuels. Most of the social strategies that existed before that time stopped working because they evolved in a period of energy scarcity, allowing new disruptive ones to take hold. If you think the old ways were better, many may return as we deplete our remaining endowment of fossil fuels while failing to do anything meaningful to mitigate the impact of that impending reality.

What the liberal atheist SJW believes in is based on Enlightenment Christian notions of fairness, equality and victimization=moral high ground. I can never get my liberal atheist friends to see that they've simply removed the incense and ritual from Christianity and rebranded it as Social Justice.

Wow, I was literally just reading an article about the Dark Enlightenment that explains the motivations and beliefs behind it a couple of minutes ago. The post of an article from Radishmag yesterday really piqued my interest, and it seems like a movement that is only going to grow from here. I see a lot of sense in what they have to say.

Red pill ideas certainly fit the bill.

The DE makes sense that many of the foundations of modern life (feminism, egalitarianism) are faith based just like every other religion.

Then some people are asking for a monarchy...and if anyone in America declared themselves king I would murder them. Nobody rules me, ever.

What I want is citizenism, where every man is responsible for his own family and his own town and society.

I don't think I'd ever attribute this movement to anything nearly resembling something like the renaissance lol. Society, culture, and legal theory, all seems to function on a pendulum. Right now, we are at the far swing of the pendulum, and TRP is sort of a direct manifestation of that pendulum being pulled back.

Or it could be that you're confusing "dark enlightenment" with just being alive during the information revolution.
