If he is significantly wealthier than you, he might see you as a gold digger. Men that come from money are taught that women will use them for their money, so they’re wary of women that feel entitled to their finances.

Have you looked into love languages? He may not be a gifty sort of person. I've been married 12 years but my husband and I never give anniversary gifts because it seems like a meaningless waste of money. Spending time together is much more important to us on that day.

That said, if you've been together for a year he should know soon whether you really are the one. Very lengthy dating periods are a warning sign that the relationship isn't meant to last because 1 to 2 years is enough time to get to know someone well enough to determine whether they are right for you. Someone who is still unsure after all that time is usually better off moving on. You aren't necessarily at that point yet but it's a good idea to start a conversation about where you both see the relationship heading.

Full text: I am 24 and I have been together with my boyfriend for a bit more than a year now. We have a beautiful relationship and a very strong connection. He is very involved in my life and is there for me when I need him. We share the same interests and aspirations. He tells me that he thinks I am “the one” and that’s how I see him too.

I do believe in true love and my overwhelmingly strong feelings for him make me believe that he could potentially be my life partner. I know I am still only 24, however I would like to have my life partner secured at the peak of my beauty and fertility. I have a stable career and I am fully independent, however I do have the desire to be taken care of.

There are a few things that have happened lately which make me wonder whether he really is sure about me or just trying to keep me around as something temporary by telling me stuff he thinks I want to hear. He is generally generous with gifts and likes to surprise me with small things which he knows I like and would make me happy and I love that. I appreciate that side of him even though I did not really expect this to be a regular thing.

However, I got really heartbroken and disappointed when he didn’t get me something that was very important to me and he knew it would make me extremely happy if he did. It is something that is limited edition and costs £130. He knew how eager I was to see this thing being released. Due to some circumstances in my life I could not afford it myself and he did not want to get it for me. I understand completely that I can’t always get what I want but he recently got a Bentley (and I am very proud of him) but it just made me feel a bit off when he decided not to get me that.

In addition to that, it was our one year anniversary a month ago. He didn’t forget the date or anything but he didn’t have anything planned or prepared for it. I have never had a serious boyfriend before and I really expected him to see it as a special occasion for us and an opportunity to celebrate out love. Am I right to feel sad?

Do you think these might be signs he is still unsure about me and that he might be leading me on?

How old is he? And how attractive is he? Guys at the top of the food chain are least likely to settle down especially at a young age.

It took my fiancé 6 years to propose. But we both knew and had discussed getting married from very early on. He was waiting until he was ready to start a family. Probably because he knows as soon as we are married that’s what I want.

My first husband asked me to marry him after 10 months. And I was dumb and said yes. We were separated longer than we were together as a married couple thanks to North Carolinas one year separated rule. I also believe he married me to have a live in nanny and housekeeper. Not a wife.

Definitely look into the love languages and do a love language test to see where you both fit. Figuring out your love languages is huge for having a happy relationship. And pretty easy to figure out what others’ are once you learn about them. Not that this is the norm at all. Just my experience.
