Looking for advice preferably from UK .

I have been married for 35 years my wife has been an alcoholic for the last 15. This is the main issue and the reason I want to divorce her.

She has tried rehab but lapsed again after only 4 months. Sex is non existent. And any love for her has been eroded over the last 15 years.

She has been violent towards myself and my daughter in the past and I even had to have her arrested on one occasion. This usually happens when I try to stop her drinking. Don't get me wrong I am fully capable of defending myself and she does not intimidate me. But its is unbelievably hard not knowing when she could lash out or throw things at you knowing you cannot retaliate without being arrested.

I am looking at trying mediation to get through a divorce without involving solicitors if at all possible.

She is rational most days but very seldom at night.

Does anyone have any similar experience of divorcing a practicing alcoholic that can be obstructive, preferably in the UK?
