This is really the significant issue: Why do males die earlier, at higher rates? Yet, they casually mention this in passing as if it’s an insignificant issue.

When a large share of a population is young, it tends to skew male because more boys are born than girls. This pattern is exacerbated in countries where sex-selective abortions and female infanticide contribute to imbalanced sex ratios at birth.

Guess where does this female infanticide takes place? But don't forget, dictatorships and muslim countries good, western democracies bad!
