American women are happier than american men now (aside from the pandemic period which is an extraordinary event and so not meaningful)

I find it extremely interesting that american men's happiness never bounced back even with economy becoming better and i think that's highly correlated with the fact that the dating environment (and society in general) have become less kind to the average man.

It seems that the golden age for american men was from 80s to early 2000s and in that period male happiness was costantly higher than female happiness, then from around 2004 womens happiness got costantly higher than men's.

I wonder if that has something to do also with the increasing use of internet and then smartphones(correlation not causation ofc), maybe the internet,social medias and smartphones benefited women more than men.
