This is a very good thing. For too long the lingering malaise of the tender years doctrine has colored family law in Canada (and other places); bills like this are essential to remedy that.

It probably won't alleviate the pain and suffering currently being felt by people being curb-stomped by the system today, but it can end the pain for future families.

I hope it passes soon.

Hey, I've got a better arrangement for handling divorce and child custody arrangements. How about asking the parents what kind of child custody arrangements they want instead of forcing parents to conform to child custody arrangements that they don't want? Under this bill, if a parent doesn't want anything other than joint custody, they would have to fight for it.

Shouldn't men have any say in child custody arrangements? Oh, wait. I forgot this isn't a bill that supports men. This is a bill that forces the government into custody arrangements, especially when no one wants the government in custody arrangements.
