It seems to depend in which Feminist State you live in. I live in The Feminist State of Australia where it is legal to advertise for specific "traits" or "gender" if you obtain an exemption under the equal hiring act from the commisioner of equal opportunity. Needless to say exemptions extend to a large number of womens organizations.

And it comes as no surprise, exemptions are rarely approved for 'hiring males only' advertisements.

Yes. I worked at a gym for 6 months, and their is a lack of female personal trainers, and a lot of female clients feel more comfortable working with a woman. More clients= More money.

The only time you could say that there is a case, is if there are no male PT's working there.

I don't know if it's legal, but it makes sense. If they have enough male trainers and the female gym members are asking for a female trainer than it's fair for them to go out looking for a female trainer.

i guess it would depend on the reasoning behind it. if they are only looking for women because they dont like guys, then it would be a problem. if their only looking for women because they are trying to find people to handle female customers who would prefer working with a women, or if they are looking for someone to fill teaching positions for womens programs then i see nothing wrong with it. as for the actual legality of it, i have no idea
