DAMN, she destroyed that 'debate'. Not that there was much to begin with, but still - pointing out a spade is a spade is absolutely needed in our society. Misandry is largely ignored, and unless we have sane voices like Barbara writing poignant articles such as this, it will continue be ignored. As they say - "All it takes is good people to do nothing for evil to win."

It won't be long before a Canadian politician starts talking about the same issues.

This is disgusting. Many men are suffering due to divorce (yes ladies - we know you suffered too) - many end up homeless and impoverished because divorce preferentially favours the woman and children. In their depression (yes ladies - MEN have FEELINGS too) men often enter a period of significant decline - loss of job (often due to relentless pursuit of Family Maintenance that they can ill afford), loss of dignity (outed on websites), loss of children.... they end up wandering through life, sometimes further messed up by anti-depressants...and many end up on the street. There they are despised by all of humanity as being worthless and often end it all with a bullet or combo of pills. How is this a good thing for society? Men are people too. They deserve all the rights women have...and all the compassion. Esp when they meet this 'fate worse than death' equivalent for the male species. These feminists are sick.

Kudos to Michelle for this compassionate consideration for men in those situations. It is an insufferable situation. She nailed it when she described the situation as "a fate worse than death" for many of us. Being a burden to society, being unable to provide for family (including children being kept away from you), etc.

I had strongly considered suicide many times in the past, to the point where the knife was at my throat while I was in the woods. It really did feel worse than death. Wanting to end it all while simultaneously flooded with guilt about the pain I'd be inflicting on friends and family... weighing that with the pain and shame I thought I was bringing them just by existing (by being a burden to them and society).

While homicide and other causes of death have gone down, suicides have gone up. There's not enough concern that male suicides outnumber female ones by several times. That needs to change.

i fucking lost it laughing at that, oh man. people calling AVFM vulgar and then advertising for manhood academy...man, that's ironic.

that being said, it's pretty fucking stupid how blind people can be to sexist double standards involving men. i actually explained a few to a sociology student earlier this week and she was shocked to realize any of them. some people are just in their own world i guess
