Except... men are more likely to be able to survive in the wild than women. Are there women who can survive? Sure. Bear Grylls and Les Stroud married half of them.

There are a few reasons that women have a hard time with survival in the wild. One of which is the prioritization of feelz over logic. See. Mother Nature is pretty fucking egalitarian. She don't give a fuck about your feelz. Boo hoo hungry? Better know how to ID flora. Better know how to dress fauna. Better know how to make some fucking fire with your belt buckle and a piece of slate. All survival skills rely on objective rather than subjective reasoning AKA science. There's no room service. There's nobody to harangue or seduce into doing it for you. And there's a cougar with a hardon for your throat waiting a couple hundred yards away. Nature is hardcore. If you can't harden the fuck up, you won't survive.

I know there's a study out there that demonstrates that men have a higher probability of surviving to be rescued in incidents involving a search and rescue response, though you have to control for environment because men constitute the overwhelming majority of offshore SAR incidents which skews the mortality rates.

I just can't find it at the moment.

Go on OkCupid and count how many men list "camping" as an activity they enjoy and then count how many women list "camping" as an activity they enjoy.

Honestly, I have no doubt that women are every bit as physically capable of "surviving in the wilderness" as men (and I've known a precious few that could), but the vast majority lack the skill and desire to learn how to rough it, because they assume (foolishly) that they'll never need to. These are the people that do not fare well in disasters.

Its because its true. Women have been house wives all the way up till nearly 70 years ago. Why do you think women aren't as well built for physical labor? It because house work didnt require it.
