Does a decent movement claim that patriarchy - and by extension all men - are guilty of all the world's ills?

Does a decent movement insist that female on male rape doesn't exist?

Does a decent movement insist that domestic violence is a gendered act?

Does a decent movement insist upon statutes that benefit women in divorce consistently at the expense of men?

Does a decent movement insist on punitive child support laws while claiming that a woman's right to choose should trump any and all concerns a putative father might have?

Does a decent movement argue against DNA tests for children when a father is concerned the child might not be his?

Does a decent movement insist that men's problems are either non-issues or not as important as women's when they keep grasping at straws to find anything relevant in which to obscure the fact there are no issues left to be concerned about in their cause?

Does a decent movement insist that rapes should have different standards of evidence and that the accused should be seen as guilty before proven innocent?

Need I go on?

Have you read of what feminism is, the movement? Not what these so called "feminists" are fighting for (those things you've listed). Based on your argument, it scares me that your view of feminism has been skewed by the portrayal of these feminists and their views. I agree with you that they are harmful both to women and men, but I don't think it's right shaming the whole movement based on how some of its members preach about these injustices. It's akin to the Taliban being seen as the representative for all Muslims.

Feminism aims to find the nature of gender inequality, the societal constructs and perceptions fueling it, the presence of the patriarchy (and no according to your first question, it's not by extension, all men. Women who grew up ingrained with the idea that men should be the stronger sex end up hurting men and women they meet. it goes both ways) and gender roles and the way it hurts BOTH men and women.

Your argument on how feminism sees men's issues as non-issues. I can say the same way for MRA's who see feminists as whiny little brats that fight for things which they claim non-issues for women (heck, they even say women don't need to fight for equality because the laws already favor them. what about societal pressures and constructs that still hurt women, and also men?). But I don't see the MRM as a nondecent movement because some of its members think that way, the same way you say feminism is a nondecent movement based on the argument that "feminists argue that men's problems are non issues". The person is different from the movement. I won't even call that person a feminist.

That's my take on feminism, I hope I am able to convince you. But I'd be happy if we view equality the same way, despite calling it different names. I'm just sad feminists are seen like that. I'd rather call those "feminists" sexists than feminists which they claim to be. And trust I've seen a lot of them. I never thought to call the feminist.

I've read enough feminist texts and been more than a little aware of the many misandrists in the movement since the second wave. There are no lofty goals, no real attempt at equality. Not unless for every feminist you pick you throw out half of what she says.

The movement itself is toxic, and a belief system and deserves all its bad press. It has worked ever so hard to earn it.

According to you. You have no more a valid perception than I do. Nor have you managed to disprove that these things I mentioned - and more - are outcomes that group finds desirable.

And you can cite to the contrary? Please do. It certainly looks as if you're clinging to the long-discredited wage gap here. Your insistence that there is anything anywhere near the education gap or suicide gap is not only ludicrous but deeply insulting.

Whatever reason you cling to that makes you see feminism as something more than solipsistic self-interest writ large is beyond me. Furthermore no MHRA that I'm aware of is interested in returning to traditionalism as it hurts us as much as feminism does.

The primary difference being that we aren't an ism. We aren't a faith-based movement that believes men are more wonderful than women or that we need special rights just equal ones. Something we are quite far away from succeeding on.

As for laws, I was talking about the false-rape accusations and how law handles it, how child custody is handled, prison time (all favoring women) and how the government just treats women favorably. For the gaps you've mentioned, I believe they aren't gender-based (at least for most countries). What I said here was that they're dismissing the need to raise awareness against the societal norms hurtful to both men and women by saying that women are treated way favorably.

What you've said about feminist texts are frighteningly true though. I had to take out what was harmful from what was not. But then again, it's the feminist, not the movement.

Why am I even trying. Feminists will prove me wrong anyway. I'll just have my own "winter_bear gender equality movement". It believes that the current gender perceptions and roles being ingrained into cultures are harmful and ebil.

We will continue to disagree. It is a movement designed to improve the lot of women - to do so indiscriminately and with no care about the fallout and in many cases with malice.

Which is truly the case. For everyone NAFALTing they're describing their view of what feminism is. Like true believers of all isms they blind themselves to the negatives and focus wholly on the positives - unwilling or unable to see what's right in front of them.

I think you'd have a hard time finding anyone in this sub having a beef with equality. Even the AMR/SRSers in their bizarre crazy quilt idea of equality (that disadvantages men) believe what they do is in its name.
