I saw a lot of the comments before they were removed, all perfectly civil and simply condemning male mutilation and/or saying no child should be mutilated

They can't even use the usual trick of pretending that it's a different topic as the article itself explicitly mentions and marginalised male victims:

"One misconception is that it is similar to male circumcision. It's much more painful, it can lead to serious and sometimes life-threatening complications and there is no medical reason to do it."

Do these people really just not care about men? Don't they see that opposing all child genital mutilation makes their case stronger?

Or do they have a sexual preference for circumcised men, which might explain the hypocritical position of defending MGM whilst being vocally against FGM?

Sad to see that censorship is increasingly becoming the primary weapon of online feminism (with the secondary weapon being shaming language...)

I see a lot of comments that have been censored. The question is, were they questioning the lack of concern for male genital mutilation, or were they even more blatant jingoist nationalism and anti-immigrant sentiment than the comments that haven't been censored?

With the censorship, of course, it is impossible to know. But from the outside, Britain is starting to look a lot like Japan from Ghost in the Shell, and I find that mighty creepifyin'.

It really is AMAZING how the Guardian totally censors any mention of MGM in its comments section if the article is anything to do with FGM. It's also published a number of disgusting pro-MGM articles.

I post under the handle: MGMCommentRemoved, then at least you can see that my comment was removed LOL.

The author of the article - Leyla Hussein - runs this website: http://www.dofeve.org/blog.html. The video on this page is about fighting FGM, and the women say "I thought that FGM was just like male circumcision... before I learnt the truth".

And the text says: "...why are women and girls being ignored? Leyla and Emma will get you talking about whether men and women are equals in 2012. Join the big inequality debate..." WTF!
