This "Ally Fogg" guy feints with the appearance of ticking off the feminists for not being pleased with the drop in the number of rapes since 1980; and under that cover, tries to slide a lie into the public perception, hoping we wouldn't notice.

Ryan’s reluctance to acknowledge that there may have been some element of truth to Kitchens’s charges, and her kneejerk grab for a reason to hang on to the one in five myth have led her to make an incredibly harmful assertion – that most rapes are not violent.

The traditional notion of rape is that it is violent, or, if not, then violence is a realistic threat. Superior force is used to get sex. This is the source of the horror and condemnation associated with the idea of rape.

The feminist lie attempts to extend this horror into situations which are nonviolent, or where force doesn't apply. Verbal tricks are needed to maintain the condemnation in circumstances where it isn't appropriate any more. So, Fogg uses one negative after another - "reluctance to acknowledge", "kneejerk grab", "myth" (that one shows his skill and his basic feint), "incredibly harmful assertion", all building up to the statement he wants to falsify: "that most rapes are not violent"

This is astonishingly short-sighted.

Not directly saying it's false; but another disparagement.

As has often been said, rape is a violent crime

Well, that's where the traditional definition comes from, Ally; yes.

in which the weapon is sex.

And here we get to Lie Central; the worm in the rosebud; the falsehood that Fogg has cosseted with so many layers of verbiage. He hopes you are so fired up about the awfulness of RAPE that you won't notice.

Unlike Ally's misrepresentation, the truth is that the weapon is force, or the threat of it. Sex is not the weapon; sex is what is to be obtained by the use of the weapon.

It's like saying that robbery is a violent crime in which the weapon is money. Nope: the weapon is the gun the robber is using to force you to hand over the money.

Why this particular lie? The reason is that the male sex role is basically aggressive, and, considering the mechanics of it, it has to be. So it's a distortion easy to make and easy to hide.

Ally then wraps it up:

It is, on its own terms and without any additional aggression or physical harm, an act of the most extreme violence.

Only the ones that actually involve "the most extreme violence", Ally; but we're not making that distinction any more, are we?

For a supposedly feminist commentator to slip into this language and logic of rape apologism is sad to see.

And so he deflates into flaccidity. Story's over guys; let's all go home.

The problem with the authors definition of rape culture (and i agree this is the definition commonly intended) is that it is an improvable and yet people are demanding action on it. All you have to do is formulate a scenario where something relates to rape and we have to ban it? Rewarding behavior leads to individuals believing that they deserve what they want if they achieve, so lets ban trophies and prizes.

You've distorted the content of the article you linked. The author says he doesn't use the term Rape Culture because he doesn't think it's very helpful etc etc, and he calls for action on reducing the number of rapes that occur, while saying Feminists ignore the success that he demonstrates has happened in reducing rapes in the last 40 years.

What are you even angry about?
