Although I disagreed with a few of the points that Michael Bolen made in this column, particularly the one on patriarchy, this was, perhaps, the most fair opinion piece that I have ever read on the Huffington Post that relates to men's rights and feminism.

The men's rights movement does have a number of misogynists, but the central points that MRA's discuss are absolutely legitimate and are, often times, completely left-out of talks on feminism. Abuse against men, false accusations, divorce court, stereotypical male norms, a diminishing college application/acceptance rate, K-12 education and masculinity, cancer research, child custody cases...these are all problems that either disproportionately and negatively impact men or have a negative impact on everybody, but there is less a focus on the impacts that men bear. This is because feminists have a staunch control over the narrative of these issues, despite the fact that less than 1/4th of American females are feminists and less than 1/5th of American males are feminists. Not only have they set the agenda so that there is only a focus on the issues surrounding women, but they have also made it so that any outside critiques of contemporary feminism or of men's rights issues are met with calls of "misogyny," "rape enabling," and "bigotry."

I do not advocate for taking the narrative away from feminists, but, rather, sharing the narrative so that all views can be represented.
