As long as people are circumcising, it's a good thing if they minimize pain and bleeding. It'll be decades before we can ban the practice, and religious groups will have exemptions. This study is a good thing.

I think non medically required circumcision should be made illegal.But while it remains a requirement for two major world religions it will continue. So surely finding out the best way to do it is a good thing? These baby boys would have been circumcised anyway- while parents are still legally allowed to ask for it, it will continue to happen.

But please don't compare infant circumcision of boys with what happens to girls who undergo FGM. Both are wrong. But a circumcised boy is left with (apart from in a tiny minority of cases) a functioning, pain free penis. He is able to pee, have erections and have sex. And, certainly in America, he will look like 50% of other men. Women who have suffered genital mutilation have a very different story to tell.
