I was out with my buddy this weekend and he said something that initially made me laugh really hard but the harder I thought about it, the more I liked the analogy. If you're offended by this, don't take it for any more than it's worth please.

So we're out drinking at a little dive bar with my buddy who is a US Marine, in a big group of friends (a mix of guys & girls). The conversation at one point turned to my friend the Marine, and how he was kind of a "man-whore" but everybody still respected him and thought he was cool. One of the girls decided this was a double standard and repeated an oft-heard argument: "It's so not fair how a guy that sleeps around can be seen as cool and desirable by people of both sexes but nobody respects a girl who sleeps around."

My buddy Mr. Semper Fi over there says something to this effect, without missing a beat: "Baby girl, those are two completely different things. You see, a woman is like a lock and a man is like a key. If you had a key that could open any lock, that would be called a Master key. But what if you had a lock that could be opened by any key? That's just a shitty lock."

Her jaw just dropped and the look on her face was priceless...
