1) Most sexual assault perpetrators are men. (Note: this is not the same thing as saying that most men are perpetrators).

True, but its not as big as a gap as you think, more on this in a bit.

2) Men are more likely to be sexually assaulted by other men than they are by women (Note: this is not the same thing as saying that women do not sexually assault men)

FALSE! According to the CDC's study on sexual assault and intimate partner violence (http://www.cdc.gov/violenceprevention/pdf/nisvs_report2010-a.pdf ) the rates are as follows (page 25)

The majority of male rape victims (93.3% [of 1,581,000]) reported only male perpetrators. For three of the other forms of sexual violence, a majority of male victims reported only female perpetrators: being made to penetrate (79.2% [of 5,451,000]) ....

The CDC defines rape as penetrative, If no penetration of the victim occurs, they define it as "Other sexual violence". It's not legitimate rape to them. This would include, a girlfriend forcing her boyfriend to have intercouse. Thats not rape to them, It is to me, It is to the laws in most states and most (If not all) of canada.

With more than 3 times the amount of made to penetrate victims, 80% of them female, Do the math, include the two stats for your definition of sexual assault, and figure out the total percentage of male and female perps. (Protip, it's females.)

3) Feeling "insulted" by some posters is not the same thing as feeling oppressed or threatened by the world you live in, and is certainly not the same thing as being sexually assaulted. (Note: Women are often the victims of those last 3 things, and are more often the victims of those three things than men. This is not the same thing as saying men are never the victims of those things).

I'm only going to focus on that last one, because feeling is subjective and hard to objectively measure, not to mention that doing so is kind of dismissive to the person(s).

Back to that CDC study.

Here are two stats relating to the 12 month figures from CDC's study: (An increase in rapes caused by culture shifts would take a few generations to be reflected in the lifetime figures but would be reflected immediately in the 12 month figures.)

Female victims of Rape: 1.1% (page 18)

Male victims of Made to Penetrate(Rape): 1.1% (page 19)

I rest my case.

JohnKimble, thanks for posting this excellent article - I'd not seen this one and it's the best one I've yet come across. What a joy to see that there are still a few journalists who think, as well as write. She deserves some thanks.
