Gender Bias in the Treatment of HPV

As a male, my doctor heavily encouraged me to get immunized. Not only for myself, but to prevent transmission to non-infected females. This seems to be a U.K. centric issue. Furthermore, I haven't seen any criticism of this man so far.

I'm a man in the United States who is immunized against HPV. As I understand the situation, women are at considerably greater risk from HPV, and so the first batches were earmarked for women while production ramped up. Now (again, to my knowledge), it's equally available to everyone.

I don't have a problem with that.

What's the situation in the UK?

"So while the world is busy demanding a female quota for street names (no, seriously! This was trending on Twitter yesterday), the world is allowing our young men to suffer because it's politically incorrect to intervene. In other words, we've taken the women-and-children-first philosophy of Titantic-era Britain and transplanted it into the NHS. National Health Service? More like national health disservice."

I'm all for men, women, and non-gender-identifying people alike getting HPV vaccines. But please don't deny that this statement is reductionist, especially considering how terrible reproductive health services for women are around the world.
