Don't fall for their attention seeking trap.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't think it's attention they are seeking -- i think it's bankruptcy!

Should be a simple case for the AHRC... Sections 5 and 22 (1b) of the 1984 Sex Discrimination Act...

Section 5 is basically "by their sex or a characteristic perceived to be tied to their sex" (paraphrased)

22-1b is:

in the terms or conditions on which the first-mentioned person provides the other person with those goods or services or makes those facilities available to the other person; or

so.... the price (edit: also, the priority seating shown on the chalkboard)

But WOmyn are a protected class it's legal reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Melbourne was a mistake

[–]8880886 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The extra fee or tax as they describe it is optional, seems like they found a loop hole.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But even by presenting it differently: they have presented different terms... IANAL but this doesn't seem vague to me.

Why... not just... pay their female employees the same amount as their male ones and be done with it?

[–]KngpinOfColonProduce 13 points14 points15 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Some places are doing that! The men have to work more to earn that same wage, of course.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That would cost them money. Feminists are mostly capitalists -- even when they claim otherwise -- and are therefore not fond of paying the plebs any more than they have to.

Yeh, but what if a man goes in there and identifies as a woman??? Hmm

[–]hatefulreason 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

but what if a woman asks you out and you take her there and she has to pay >?

[–]McFeely_Smackup 11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

respect goes both ways

That word doesn't mean what she thinks it means.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm curious as to what kind of man would bother going there.

[–]saltshaker42 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The kind who lack self respect.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's just it. I just wouldn't go in. I wouldn't purchase anything, and I wouldn't give them any sort of advertising.

[–]Sasha_ 33 points34 points35 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

What's the gender workplace death gap these days? About 97% men is it? So how about we kill 3 in 100 female customers - sounds fair.

[–]iongantas 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You aren't mathing correctly. That would require killing 48 in a hundred female customers.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Are they still in business.

[–]sycophantasy 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Coffee shops in the right location are super simple to keep running.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Ethics and legality aside, discriminating against the customers with the most money doesn't seem like a sound business practice.

[–]Lethn 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It isn't, people act like if you removed these discrimination laws all of a sudden employer's would immediately start screwing over people whenever they get the chance. However in this day and age as we've seen stuff like social justice is extremely unpopular and customers will warn everybody about these sorts of scumbag business owners that think they can discriminate against people that easily.

[–]chadwickofwv 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They aren't, they are discriminating against the people who earn the most money. The women are the ones who have and spend the overwhelming majority of money.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Can't comment -- busy flying down to Melbourne to take a dump on that woman's head.

[–]LabTech41 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ok then, just upsize the men's orders one; if they're going to pay more, then they should get more coffee since they worked harder in harder jobs to earn that money.

I really wonder why veganism has allied with the feminist movement so much... I mean, I get the whole idea that vegans are usually more "conscious" of what they think of as discrimination, but it's just so frustrating that many vegans are also spiritualists (i.e. believe in crazy esoteric shit that has no basis in science) and feminists (i.e. this example, which also has no basis in economic reality). It's sad to see how most vegans focus more on the part where their diet 'gives them more energy' and is 'kindness and happiness', and neglect the statistics and numbers. That kind of shit, where they care more about feelings, is probably why you have these batshit insane people that discriminate in the name of fairness. (Just like those that destroy property etc. when violent methods will literally only harm their cause.)

Same with environmentalists, really. Caring about the environment and trying to reduce your carbon footprint really shouldn't make you a crazy feminist and/or esoteric, but apparently those things go hand-in-hand. Sad thing, really, as global warming is one of the biggest issues but it's so clustered within these feminist/extreme left viewpoints where you are pretty much forced to accept these other ideologies.

I couldn’t imagine what the misinformed male cucks must look like who buy coffee here. This is the very definition of sexism, what a fucking joke.

[–]johndeer89 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What if you don't identify as a man. How dare they assume my gender!

[–]MeEvilBob -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You run your own business, you get to make the rules. I'm under no obligation to go to your business so I really don't care what the rules are at a business I won't go to. If this makes her some extra money from her normal clientel then good for her, a lot of places wouldn't be so honest about ripping off half their customers.

[–]Mens-Advocate 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You run your own business, you get to make the rules.

False. In many jurisdictions, it is illegal to discriminate in public accommodations.
