They get that there is no legal protection in this regard for booked gigs, right?

They can sue and complain all they won't. They can't make a venue book gigs based on gender.

The only mistake these guys made was ever overtly admitting they weren't booking female acts. Simply decline them and nobody cares. Admit it's because they're women and everyone goes nuts. Now you're. Small venue is in getting written up in the papers...which maybe was the point. Perhaps it wasn't a mistake after all.
