WHO, like so many other international organisations, have the USA as their largest source of finance by far. And he who pays the piper calls the tune:

And the USA are firmly in the hands of the pro-circumcision camp.

Plus, as male circumcision is practiced in the west, it's considered "OK" as we are wonderful, white, scientific westerners. Whilst those nasty, brutish black African people all hate women and are stupid, so they practice FGM which is nothing like MGM of course.

But there is some truth in all that!

Plus, I know of people in the intactivist movement, who have been told by WHO personnel, that they can't be anti-MGM as the Jewish & Israel lobby would go crazy. Same goes for the GMC (General Medical Council) in the UK. They license doctors, and give them special dispensation to perform MGM for non-theraputic reasons. When it was suggested to them that this was mutilation and child-sex-abuse and they should stop it, their reply was "...well, what would we tell the Chief Rabbi?".

The functional value of the male prepuce, and any harm resulting from its removal, is further obscured by gender bias when, as Darby asserts, international bodies such as the World Health Organization (WHO) promote inconsistent research on FGC and MGC:

Such biases may underpin both circumcision advocacy and reluctance of many in the medical and human rights communities, and the wider public, to consider the voices of men claiming circumcision harm.

The people who say that circumcision has benefits other than not getting phimosis are lying. End of story.
