Hi guys, I recently went to a party with wife and child. Our child was queueing for a party game, with quite a rough-playing kid behind him. My wife went into protection mode and hovered around him from afar, focusing on the situation like a hawk, tense as if something terrible was going to happen and she needed to swoop in to rescue him. It's happened before and I get really triggered, just wanting her to let him be and stop over-protecting. I didn't handle it too well, made some comment that she needs to chill out. This makes her angry in return and it quickly escalates into an argument (very brief as we're in the middle of the party).

I know deep down that I can't let this affect me that much. I still think that I need to express my opinion, possibly at a later time when we're more relaxed. Or I could just deal with my own business before I attempt to lead my wife and protect my son from her (I'd say she's a great mum except for this super protective & helping streak)

What's the best way forward in these situations?
