Oh and here's the thing guys, depending on what happens with Brexit, if we actually break away from the European Union entirely, university students won't be able to lose their shit and go to the ECJ to overrule this because it will be enforced by our own courts and this minister can't be overruled assuming Theresa May doesn't do anything to fuck up our sovereignty though it does look like she's trying.

This could be the beginning of a legitimate free speech revolution in UK universities if this goes ahead and the feminists are going to absolutely hate it.

Although it seems the biggest mistake they made was attacking TERFs like Greer. We'll see if it holds for the views of centre and right leaning academics, and anti-establishment progressives like MHRAs.

See this is the problem with publicly funded universities.

With a private university, they can choose who to have talk and who to not have talk and that makes sense. Their lecture halls are owned and controlled by a private entity and that's that. The lecture hall is no different than a movie theater or stage but with a different purpose.

Without that separation, universities become public forums for speakers. In a sense, your university is a government office and a government office must make free speech accommodations.
