My wife and I have just agreed to divorce. However, I have lost my ability to work as I became symptomatic with Huntington's Disease over two years of separation. We both agree that divorce is a good idea (we've become really argumentative) as we have twins (almost two years old). With my health in decline, there is no contest that the children should go with their Mom. But increasingly I'm being told I should be fighting for spousal support (alimony) as she has continued to work through all of this.

I like the idea of a mediator as it sounds fast and I just want this all put behind this. But would a mediator be able to consider my well being with alimony at the same time as figuring out child support for her? Or is this just too deep of water, I should just be looking at a lawyer?
